I’ve never done a marathon or anything of that sort but what better way to start than to walk or run (preferably walk) one of longest bridges! Perfect getup for fall, too

  10. Danielle September 7, 2017 at 7:01 pm #

I was in Astoria last week, watching the sun set into the ocean behind the magnificent bridge, and I was wondering if people ever walk across it. Little did I know then that PDX Pipeline would be awarding me with the opportunity to do just that.

My daughter and I love Astoria! It’s one of our favorite places to go on the coast.
We did the Goonies anniversary Truffle Shuffle run a few years ago, plus the 0.0 run (which was an absolute blast!)
Running over the bridge would be amazing, and a great addition to our Astoria fun runs.
If we had entries to the race, perhaps she’ll put her shoes on and start running again!

  36. Randy T George September 17, 2017 at 10:19 pm #

  44. Kit September 21, 2017 at 12:43 pm #

I would love to do it. I’m a structural engineer, so running across the bridge is the best combination for me especially the longest continuous truss bridge in North America. Can’t wait to join it.

My daughter and I would love to put our training to use!

  51. Riona Abhainn October 6, 2017 at 1:54 pm #

This would be fun, we’ve driven over this bridge so many times that walking it would be exciting. Hoping we don’t have to do it exactly at 6:30am, looks like it goes all day long. So glad there are still some things I can try to win without instigram! I think it is unfair that most of them are instigram now, I don’t know that my screenreader software would work with instigram.

  52. Sian Medway October 6, 2017 at 3:03 pm #

The original San Fran! To run over Astoria’s bridge into Washington County would feel like flying! Or hovering at speed as a drone camera’s eye. Zero pain. Running back the way even more fun with the gorgeous view of Astoria and the homes scattered on the hillside. Classy! Why does everybody go to Cannon Beach? I agree the beaches are world class, but so is Cape Disappointment and Fort Stevens State Park. And the history! Hopefully events like this will bring more tourism. If it wasn’t for the cruise ships … Love this corner of the PNW

  53. Mark Butterfield October 7, 2017 at 1:30 pm #

Well shoot, I grew up in Astoria. Crossed that bridge multiple times, back when there was a toll. I’d walk the hell out of that bridge if I was granted tickets! Hope it’s at low tide, so people can see the pilings that supported the horse teams that pulled conveyances across the river (way before my time).
