The theorem of turntablist as musician has been long proven in the capable hands of DJ Logic, whom with jazz as his foundation has become a wax innovator by crossing genres and mixing his sound across the map. As one of the world’s most accomplished turntablists, DJ Logic is widely credited for introducing jazz into the hip – hop realms and is considered by most as a highly respected session musician and an innovative bandleader.
Since his emergence in the early nineties amidst the Bronx hip-hop scene, the New York City based deejay has been amassing a veritable mountain of collaborations ranging from the likes of: MEDESKI MARTIN AND WOOD, CHRISTIAN MCBRIDE, VERNON REID, CHARLIE HUNTER, JACK DeJOHNETTE, JOHN MAYER, BEN HARPER, MOS DEF and THE ROOTS, to name but a few.
California’s Object Heavy draws from the sound of soul music! Inspired by the parameters of rock, funk, blues, R&B and hip hop, the band features two singers, whose lyrics remind us of a world in need, a world to love, and a place to be free. Their self-titled debut album features Bill Summers, percussionist of Herbie Hancock’s acclaimed “HeadHunters”. DJ Logic shows up on two tracks, and you’ll get to hear the Legendary Fred Wesley (James Brown Band, Parliament) with his signature trombone. Sleep and Zone (Macklemore) of “The Chicharones” and Raashan Ahmad of the “Crown City Rockers” are featured, as well. As a touring outfit they have backed these artists and many other legendary performers and their past goodfoot shows have been serious get downs!
Klozd Sirkut: An evolutionary sound derived from a pallet of funk, jazz, rock, soul and world beat influences, all incorporated through technology. The members of Klozd Sirkut utilize unique hybrid electro-instrumental setups, effects and pre-recorded loops. The live performance is layered with a hard grooving, beat-driven framework creating Klozd Sirkut’s undeniably signature sound and dynamic live electro performances.
Trumpet player, Chris CD Littlefield performs regularly with Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe and has shared the stage with Angelo Moore (Fishbone), Phil Lesh, and a plethora of other exceptional voices including James Brown. Littlefield tweaks his horn effects to sound like everything from a synth bass, horn section and an alien vocalist. He calmly cues samples and loops while laying down keyboard parts and background vocals, or picks up his horns and makes you wonder how that sound is even possible. $12
