The 3rd Annual Baker’s Dozen, or BD3, melds three things Portland does best: coffee, beer, and doughnuts. Each brewer uses beans from different roasters in order to participate. Admission includes all 13 coffee beers, morsels of all 13 doughnuts, and a souvenir glass. Actual coffee will be provided, too, along with house-made breakfast options available for purchase. Live jazz can be enjoyed throughout the fest. Tickets to both sessions are limited to 350 and only available for those 21+.
The line-up this year features mostly Portland breweries: Culmination, Alameda, Gigantic, Great Notion, Labrewatory, McMenamins, Montavilla (in collaboration with Bipartisan Café), and Tugboat. Additionally, Block 15 from Corvallis San Diego’s Modern Times and Georgetown from Seattle (pour their GABF 2016 gold medal winning beer) will be on hand.
Portland roasters participating include Ole Latte, Clutch, Coava, Caffe Umbria, Stumptown, and McMenamins Coffee, plus Modern Times Coffee since the brewery roasts their own beans.
This year’s doughnut line-up includes Annie’s, Blue Star, Coco Donuts, Delicious Donuts, Donut Byte Labs, Joe’s Donuts (from Sandy), Rocking Frog Café, Staccato Gelato, Tonalli’s, Since the festival falls on the Jewish festival of Purim, Bowery Bagels is making traditional Hamantaschen (think cross between jelly doughnuts and a sugar cookie), Churros Locos will be on site making fresh Mexican churros, and Namu prepares fresh Hawaiian malasadas.
The festival is an all-ages event. A portion of the proceeds will go to the American Civil Liberties Union to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed by the Constitution. For folks needing savory protein, Culmination Kitchen executive chef CJ Mueller will have breakfast food available for sale and several of the roasters will provide complimentary joe.
