Tony Starlight Showroom
1125 SE Madison, Suite 103G, Portland, OR 97214

Join Tony and the Craig Bidondo Quartet as they perform myriad love songs from the 1920s through “modern times”*.

They will take you through the heyday of pop music by performing the great songs like “Fly Me To The Moon” and “Do Not Forsake Me”, the bad songs like “I Can’t Fight This Feeling Anymore” and one or two of the ugly songs, which are too ugly to print in this ad! Everything from Bing Crosby, The Rat Pack and the golden age of Standards, to pop hits from the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s by artists like Tom Jones, Elton John, Neil Diamond and more. The show is both romantic and silly, with the great musicianship and spirit of fun you’ve come to expect from the Tony Starlight Show.

There will be a complimentary long stem rose for the ladies and a glass of champagne to greet your arrival.

*modern times to Tony means 1985

Tony Starlight: Vocals and acoustic guitar
Craig Bidondo: Musical director and pianist
Dennis Caiazza: Bass

I don’t know if there’s a song more “bad” than Sondheim’s “Send in the Clowns.” Clowns are already a little creepy by any stretch, and this song has such a weird melancholy tone to it, finishing with the line, “they’re already here…” Creepy (again). How long have they been here, exactly? Maybe the whole melodramatic delivery isn’t really about clowns at all, but is so steeped in self-pity I can’t imagine anything “good” coming from it. In fact, it’s kind of ugly all around, too. Oh yeah, I’d love to take my special lady to this show. No clowns, please.

  13. Yulya February 3, 2017 at 11:15 am #

I’ve gotta go with the “Piña Coladas” love song! I’m on the fence about whether it’s so cheesy-bad that it’s good or just plain bad?

  14. Noe February 3, 2017 at 2:49 pm #

  15. Christoph February 4, 2017 at 2:01 am #

My favorite “good” love song is The Very Thought of You by Billie Holiday… I had the DJ play this song for my wife & I’s first dance at our wedding last summer. It was quite a beautiful moment. :) This year I’m out of ideas & plans for what to do, and my wife asked me “what are we doing for Valentine’s day?”… a little help??
