Mark Shapiro from LAIKA, the film studio (founded by Phil Knight) behind Coraline, Kubo & the Two String, The Boxtrolls, and ParaNorman will present how these beloved oscar-nominated films are made literally by hand — from script to illustrations to stop-motion animation. This process averaged only two seconds of footage in an week; Mark will explain how and why.

Mark will also give you an intimate look behind the curtain of LAIKA’s biggest stars — the puppets, of course! He’ll bring an armature and other stop-motion film goodies with him. Recommended for all animation lovers, ages 9 and up

All proceeds benefit Cerimon House, a nonprofit humanities and cultural arts organization, located in the heart of the Alberta Arts
