Portland is hosting 16 neighborhood walks around the city this summer! Each walk is guided and introduces walkers to new and interesting areas all over the city!

The health benefits of walking are numerous, including reduced risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and obesity.  Walking with others provides the added benefits of a valuable support network and new friendships!

Ten Toe Express walks are held alternating Thursdays at 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays at 9:00 a.m. from May 7th through September 10th.

1. Historic Old TownDiscover the history and architecture of “Old Town,” Portland’s first commercial district, where ocean-going ships once took the bounty of the NW to faraway ports.  Explore some of the remaining historical buildings and get a glimpse of the changes that took place along the waterfront.

2. Kelly Butte Loop: Walk from the Jade District to the top of Kelly Butte and see both the remnants of the Cold War Fallout shelter and where your drinking water comes from as we stop by Portland newest reservoir.

3. New Columbia to the Slough and Vanport Site: Stroll through a few great neighborhoods undergoing changes as we see and hear about new parks, developments and a recent transportation safety project.

4.  Ramona Quimby 60 years Later Tour:  Ramona may still be in the third grade but we will join Laura Foster, local guide and author and tour the sites in NE Portland of Beverly Cleary’s popular books!

Meet: West side of Grant Park by the Beverly Cleary Sculpture Garden , NE 33rd & Brazee

5. Jade District Loop:  Enjoy a tour of some key Asian American businesses and activity areas in the southeast Portland’s Jade District.

6. Garthwick and the New Sellwood Bridge Loop:  Join a walk from Sellwood to the wonderful Portland neighborhood of Garthwick and then loop over the new Sellwood Bridge.

Meet:  SE 16th & Harney, Sellwood Middle School

7. Hillsdale to Multnomah Village: Come along on a challenging hike on SW Trails # 3, 4, 6 & 7 from Hillsdale to Gabriel Park and Multnomah Village.

Meet:  Wilson High School parking lot, west end of the bleachers, SW Sunset Blvd and Capitol Highway

8. Living Cully Loop:  Discover two new parks in NE Portland’s Cully neighborhood as well as new developments underway.
