We are thrilled to be hosting the Quick and Easy Boys AND The Soul Stew DJ’s (having two separate floors sure helps!) on New Years Eve!!!! The Quick & Easy Boys are cowboy-disco-funk band who create their own blend of music. Imagine the Minutemen, the Police, Parliament and Band of Gypsies rolled into one.
Formed in 2005, The Quick & Easy Boys quickly made a name for themselves in Eugene, Oregon before relocating to Portland and becoming a nationally touring act. Their shows are an interactive party (serious emphasis on party) with electrifying stage antics and profound musical moments as the trio pours out every ounce of their considerable energy. The band has gained the reputation for moving a crowd all-night long whether it be a big festival or a tiny watering hole. The core members – – Sean Badders on vocals and bass, Jimmy Russell on vocals and guitar, and Casey Anderson on drums and vocals – – have continued to evolve musically…and audiences continue their enthusiastic calling of “Yeah Bud!” at every show. Fresh into 2015, the Boys have released their 4th album – Follow Us Overboard – this time with renowned producer Steve Berlin (Los Lobos, Deer Tick, Jackie Greene, etc.) at Modest Mouse mastermind Isaac Brock’s personal studio. Other recent accolades include being selected as main support for the legendary Funky Meters at Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom in Denver, CO, as well as acting as backing band for folk troubadour Peter Yarrow (Peter, Paul and Mary). Over the years they’ve also opened both locally and nationally for Deer Tick, The Meat Puppets, Blitzen Trapper, The Thermals, J. Roddy Walston and the Buisness, Orgone, Monophonics, The Pimps of Joytime, Juno What?!, Southern Culture on the Skids, Big Sam’s Funky Nation, The Bridge, Vince Herman, and more!
The upstairs pub will be transformed into a dance party as we move the tables, bring in the big P.A. and let the party wizards of the renowned Soul Stew throw down an epic night of old school funk, soul and breakbeats from their truly inspiring collection of original 45′s– no laptops and other crutches for these platter spinners! Since the goodfoot infancy in the Spring of 2001, Oregon Music Hall of Famer, Eric “DJ Aquaman” Hedford, and crew have been shaking backsides and facilitating romance for PDX’s party people every Friday. Tonight promises more of the same!
See goodfoot.com for pre-sale ticketing info for The Quick and Easy Boys (in the downstairs music venue). Soul Stew (upstairs) will have no pre-sale and will be $10 at the door. We hope to see you there!
