I’d like to win because last year our New Year’s Eve was ruined by a vomiting toddler. This would, hopefully, make up for that! :)

We used to stay home with our fearful dog on New Year’s Eve in case there were fireworks . . . but he is, alas, now gone. So maybe we should go out for a change! Jazz and cocktails sounds like the bee’s knees.

  21. Arturo Calilung December 9, 2015 at 11:00 pm #

I’d like to attend the speakeasy event because I travel to all of the hideouts of the gangsters of old. I just visited where AL Capone used to play cards (he had a mirror that he could tilt to see his opponents’ cards) and i love the ambience that Era recreates.

  22. Shasha Andrews December 10, 2015 at 8:44 am #

Did somebody say: Speakeasy?! More fun than a masquerade Ball! dancing to jazz all night long…..

  52. Kaelin December 11, 2015 at 10:55 am #

  54. Elizabeth Folger December 11, 2015 at 7:32 pm #

I would love to win these tickets because the last time I got tickets to a speakeasy style party, I tore a ligament in my knee two days before the event and couldn’t dance. I would love to dance the night away at this celebration!

  62. Clayton kangiser December 12, 2015 at 1:34 pm #

A speakeasy New Year’s Eve would allow me to step and do something on the other side of the spectrum. Something of an event that could possibly change my life, I don’t know, I have never been to a speakeasy. But in order to move forward into 2016, I feel I need to take it back with these tickets to a simpler time.

  63. Erika December 12, 2015 at 3:21 pm #

This sounds like a perfect way to ring in our first New Years as a married couple! My husband and I had a chance to visit a speakeasy in San Diego, but they weren’t serving dinner, it was late, and we needed a meal! This would be a wonderful way to redeem ourselves after our own poor planning. We’d be jazzed to get to swank it up, get down, and welcome 2016 in style!

  64. Heather December 13, 2015 at 3:18 pm #

This sounds like a perfect way to start the new year! Jazz and speakeasy….amazballs!

  65. Marcela December 13, 2015 at 3:24 pm #

Because the first year that I moved to Portland, I didn’t know a single soul and played arcade games at Ground Kontrol where some Canadians adopted me for the night and got me drunk (so that was cool). Last year was spent in Seattle (not cool). And this year I’m back, baybeh! It’d be nice to have a great party to go to!

  66. Michelle Gunkler December 13, 2015 at 3:42 pm #

I was going to buy tickets for this event but because all my friends wait till the the last minute to let me know how many tickets to buy I am out of luck :( SO please pick me to win the tickets!!!!!
It looks like a ton of fun!!

  67. Jane December 13, 2015 at 4:48 pm #

I do not get out much, but mayb if I had tickets to something amazing then I would!;)… To already have tickets and to be able to invite a friend or date would be really nice!…. And I love jazz:)… Please pick me!

  71. alayna December 14, 2015 at 10:53 am #

I would LOVE to win! I have spent the last 3 NYE alone because my boyfriend has had to work. He is off this year and this would make our whole year.

  72. Jessica December 14, 2015 at 11:40 am #

  73. Michaele December 14, 2015 at 12:19 pm #

  74. Whitney December 14, 2015 at 12:23 pm #

We’d love to come celebrate New Years with you because it’s MY BIRTHDAY!!!!

  75. Jacqui December 14, 2015 at 1:05 pm #

Fun! This sounds like a really great time and a fantastic excuse for a sassy, jazzy little black dress. ;-)

  76. Justin December 14, 2015 at 1:42 pm #

A jazzy speakeasy-themed party @ the Red Tavern? Sounds like a blast! My partner and I are in desperate need for a night out. Our little ones have been driving us up the wall due to the approaching holiday season and our recent move from Washington to the west side. This party sounds like a much needed night out! Winning these tickets would be such an amazing way to start off 2016. What could be better than Lindy Hopping in the new year while consuming faux illicit booze?

  77. Wendy December 14, 2015 at 2:29 pm #

I would love to win because my husband and I are celebrating our first New Year celebration as a married couple and I finally have the holiday day off from work in 6 six years! Give us a chance to get dressed up and have some fun to start the year!

  78. Elle December 14, 2015 at 3:18 pm #

I would really like to spend NYE out with my we’re-currently-on-a-break boyfriend and really reconnect. He’s not easy to get out (except for his kids) but I think he’d say yes to this. And I’m a speakeasy gal from way back. My black-and-white spectators are ready to go!

  79. TiredTimeTraveler December 14, 2015 at 3:35 pm #

Help! If I’m not in a speakeasy on New Years Eve, I’ll never get back home to my REAL time, 1922! Smart phones? Net Flicks? Inter Net? I’m at a loss in this modern world…get me back to my gramophone and dancing shoes! If I can attend, I’ll tap my heels together three times and FINALLY get back home! And if I can’t…somebody pour me a stiff drink.

  80. Ali December 14, 2015 at 4:49 pm #

Just let me be a swanky lady for one night.

  81. Jessie Tyler December 14, 2015 at 5:12 pm #

This would be a magical night and I would love to be at Red Star Tavern to ring in the New Year!! :)

  82. Stef December 14, 2015 at 6:23 pm #

This sounds like a blast — prohibition-era jazz, dancing, and drinks sounds like definitive NYE antics and I’d love to be a part of them!

  83. Michelle December 14, 2015 at 8:27 pm #

This would be the perfect date for me and my man-friend!

  84. Cara December 14, 2015 at 8:33 pm #

This sounds like an incredibly swell possibility for my partner and I. We’re damn fine individuals who enjoy both nicely crafted cocktails and jazz. We would be sure to liven the party with our endearing attempts at dancing, though I assure you we get better with liquor.

  85. John Thomas December 14, 2015 at 9:32 pm #

    sounds good to me!

  86. Lisa December 14, 2015 at 10:47 pm #

This would be an incredible way to start 2016 and a great excuse to get out of the house and celebrate right! :)

  87. Ben December 15, 2015 at 7:39 am #

Who doesnt like sipping some whisky while listening to some smooth jazz???

  88. Katie December 15, 2015 at 9:06 am #

My boyfriend & I met at a Departure NYE party a couple years ago, ended up sneaking away from the loudness to this tavern for a one-on-one.

He loves jazz, I would absolutely adore to gift him these for our anniversary.

  89. Kate December 15, 2015 at 9:31 am #

    Hi,
We are travellers from Australia and it has been quite difficult to decide where to have NYE but having it at the Red Star Tavern is exactly what we have been looking for. Please let all of us have the night to remember!

  90. Scott December 15, 2015 at 9:43 am #

    Please choose this guy!

  91. Paige S. December 15, 2015 at 11:23 am #

  95. Lisa Walton December 15, 2015 at 3:28 pm #

  96. Irene December 15, 2015 at 3:48 pm #

I’d love free tickets, my friend whom I am spending NYE with has never heard live Jazz before and it’s something we both think would be fun way to spend the evening doing.

  97. Ryan December 15, 2015 at 4:06 pm #

My wife and I would love an evening out listening to Jazz with a few drinks!!!!

  98. Jessica December 15, 2015 at 6:26 pm #

My boyfriend and I had our first date three years ago on NYE! This event would be such a great way to celebrate our anniversary! :)

  99. Chaka December 15, 2015 at 6:34 pm #

Because each year that my husband and I have been together, I have been extremely ill :( Pneumonia twice, bronchitis, and last year, I wasn’t sick, but we had our newborn son. We need a night out! And we are total jazz cats!

  100. Lauren December 15, 2015 at 8:29 pm #

  104. Kara December 16, 2015 at 10:26 am #

I would love to win to take my boyfriend somewhere new and exciting for the both of us! We don’t have a chance to get out often and it would be great to spend our first New Year’s together as a couple doing something that neither of us have experienced before.

  125. Justin Tyle December 17, 2015 at 10:35 pm #

My fiance and I have a scheduled wedding at the end of January and would like to do something special with her for NYE. This event would be perfect for us since we’re both huge fans of music and are musicians ourselves. Sadly, our budget is on the low side and cannot afford more than a bottle of champagne for our celebrations.

  143. Maralyn Martindale December 19, 2015 at 9:03 pm #

New Years Eve in post-prohibition era Portland! Oh the wonder of ringing in the new year in such a historic style, the Jazz Speakeasy. What a treat, especially for a girl from a southern dry county. Opportunities like this don’t grow on trees.

  144. Karla Kay December 20, 2015 at 1:09 am #

Just moved to Portland from Las Vegas, so we need an awesome NYE party to compare to those on the Strip that we’re used to!!! Can’t wait to ring on the new year in our new hometown!!

  147. Chris Timberlake December 20, 2015 at 10:30 am #

Please. Because I haven’t been out for New Years Eve since my kids were born… IN 2007. Please before I shrivel up and die. I’m already 40 something. My husband is even older. We’re desperate.

  148. Uma December 20, 2015 at 1:37 pm #

My partner and I are looking for a fun, classy way to ring in the new year . . . and I want to wear my fancy Gatsby-era fringe dress!

  156. Kristen December 20, 2015 at 11:52 pm #

This sounds excellent — I would love an excuse to dress up, on theme!, and have a night out with my husband (who vetoed a Kentucky Derby wedding in 2011…come on man).

  157. Melissa Kaylene December 20, 2015 at 11:56 pm #

I’d love to head up there! I’ve never actually gone out to Portland on NYE and it would be really fun at Red Star Tavern! I’d love to blog about it afterwards. :)

  158. Misty December 21, 2015 at 2:36 am #

This sounds like a fun way to celebrate my first NYE as a married couple =)

  159. Josh December 21, 2015 at 7:54 am #

After 5 years of boring or total let down NYE’s, I need this! PDX Pipeline to save the day!

  166. Mathew December 21, 2015 at 7:48 pm #

I spent last NYE crying into a glass of wine while watching Frozen. I am pretty sure tickets to this would make up for it.

  167. Hilary December 21, 2015 at 9:08 pm #

Because 1) Jazz & speakeasies 2) it’s our first Portland NYE! Pleaseeeee please please we couldn’t afford to do Christmas this year & a NYE event like this would be good juju for 2016!

  168. Vanessa December 21, 2015 at 11:54 pm #

I’d like to win because it will be my first time in Portland, Oregon. Traveling from California and it would be a fun way to spend New Year’s Eve

  169. Nate December 22, 2015 at 12:01 am #

This is my first NYE in Portland and I don’t have anyplace else to wear this fedora yet.

  170. Sarah December 22, 2015 at 9:30 am #

My husband and I have had a rough year and need a night out away from our 4 year old son to help rekindle our relationship. We have spent the last 8 New Year’s Eve celebrations (every New Years since we’ve been together) with his whole family. We need to start this new year off right, and I have always wanted to spend New Year’s Eve in downtown since I turned 21. I am now 28 and think it’s time! I’m currently a full time student so we are currently living off a single family income, winning these tickets would be a dream come true. Sorry for the sappy post but it’s all sad but true!

  171. Julie December 22, 2015 at 9:32 am #

Going to this Speakeasy-style NYE would make my whole year!

  172. corey December 22, 2015 at 1:43 pm #

i would love to attend this..pick me please :)

  173. Melinda Claire December 22, 2015 at 2:04 pm #

  174. Denise December 22, 2015 at 4:26 pm #

Dueling pianos? What better way to celebrate the end of 2015? One of my worst years ever

  175. Norma Jean December 22, 2015 at 4:55 pm #

My partner and I moved in together a year ago and have been lovers for four. We struggled to be together everyday before we collaborated. While I tended bar, he struggled to make ends meet playing poker. He was a winning player for quite some time but the game can test every nerve in the mind AND body. He found a friend/mentor while playing the game and this amazing person offered him a great job in his company. This was two weeks ago, the hours are a little rough from 7AM to 3:30AM but we are making it work… Luckily I only work 3 days a week. My birthday is on the 30th and my love has a couple weeks off for the holidays (slow season). I would love to surprise him with tickets to the Red Star NYE party, we had breakfast there once after an all night session of poker. He would be absolutely floored. Thank you for the consideration.

  176. Rina December 22, 2015 at 5:31 pm #

  179. Lindsey December 22, 2015 at 8:32 pm #

I’d like to win because I finally have a holiday off! I’ve the spent last New Years Eve, the last two Thanksgivings, last Christmas, and will spend this coming Christmas answering a crisis line and accompanying police on calls with individuals in crisis. 188. Vanessa Paz December 23, 2015 at 9:57 pm #

We are San Diego natives who have lived in Oregon for the past 3 years. This will be our first year in Portland celebrating NYE, and we would love love to ring in the New Year Rose City style! We usually stay in most weekends; but at age 28, I feel my boyfriend and I should spice it up a bit, and dressing up for a night on the town couldn’t sound anymore perfect. We are in love with OREGON, and would love to meet and celebrate with other Portlanders!

  189. Rose December 23, 2015 at 11:38 pm #

This will be my first New Year’s Eve in Portland & this sounds like a great tradition to start, jazz & drinks!

  202. Josh C December 26, 2015 at 9:01 am #

My girlfriend and I would love to win tickets to this event! Neither one of us have had that “magical” new years experience, and as a life-long lover of jazz, this would be the perfect gift! Who would want to go to a club and be part of the sweaty undulating mass of strangers with loud, aggressive dub-step blaring in your ears? Not us. However, we’re always in the mood to meet fun Portlanders, keep it classy, and have a great time doing it.

After Christmas, both of our bank account are pretty wiped out (recent college graduates…) so this may be the only way we get to have a “next-level” celebration.

And if it sweetens the deal, we have around unique 4,000 facebook friends between us that we’d love to share your website with! :)

HELP US PDX PIPELINE – YOU’RE OUR ONLY HOPE!!!

  203. Kaitlin December 26, 2015 at 10:22 am #

  206. Elle Hayes December 26, 2015 at 2:51 pm #

This 73 year old who seldom goes out but who loves jazz would totally appreciate winning these tickets-I even have a cute date! And a flapper style dress. I’d rock this scene…

    Sounds like a blast!

  217. Katie December 27, 2015 at 9:08 am #

When I met my husband we went to a speakeasy style NYE party in Denver. I had gone out the year before with a friend who was a total wallflower, and it was terrible. I told him I wanted to do something fun, and he surprised me with a three story Black Tie event to ring in 2013.

This past year, we did nothing. We stayed home, and went to bed before midnight. And it has been just the craziest year of our lives. We moved to Portland, and then my mom got sick. I made a last minute trip to PA to see her at a family gathering, and the state of her health caused us to decide to push our wedding up to October. The whole thing was planned and pulled off in about a month. Then within two weeks of our wedding, I was rear ended and my car was totalled, and then my mom passed.

So I told my husband, this year, we have to celebrate New Years. It’s clearly bad luck not to. While there were a lot of great things that happened this year, it was too crazy. So we have to bring it in right!

  218. Kate Mitchell December 27, 2015 at 9:10 am #

I would love to go because there is no better way than jazz to reflect on and cure heartbreak. It has been over 3 years since I have celebrated New Years out on the town, the ex refused to go out on nights like this. He may have given me freedom, but he took everything else — including the cat. Help this sad single gal liven up this New Years! Help me Take The A Train!

  219. Trini December 27, 2015 at 11:23 am #

A chill spot with my love of one year, that blessed my life almost to the day.

  220. Roseana December 27, 2015 at 11:40 am #

Speakeasy-style, Jazz music and craft cocktails??!!!? Sounds like a great way to ring in 2016 with my love in PDX!! Cheers!

  221. Emily Novitsky December 27, 2015 at 4:52 pm #

I want to win these tickets because it’s my first time being 21 on New Years and I’m a poor OSU student who can’t afford tickets to something as awesome as this!

I love speakeasy’s and would love to go!

  223. Patricia December 27, 2015 at 6:18 pm #

Last year I got stuck in the front cab of a ford pick up truck while my friend tried to get busy with the driver, who she just met and was in between him and I. I want 2015 to end better. This is where you come in.

  224. Ben Perry December 27, 2015 at 7:25 pm #
