Prior to its arrival at the Square, the tree will parade along SW Sixth Avenue along with Santa and The Beat Goes on Marching Band! While the tree is being lifted in place, spectators can grab a FREE hot chocolate from Unitus Community Credit Union, say hello to Santa, listen to the festive carols of the Dickens Carolers, and kick-off the holiday season in Portland’s Living Room!
This is the thirteenth year Stimson Lumber Company has generously donated the city’s tree. The 75ft tall Douglas Fir was grown on sustainable forestlands near Timber, Oregon. The tree will begin its journey to the Square today November 10th with the help of Ness & Campbell Crane along with RAM Trucking.
After two weeks of reattaching branches and tree limbs, more than 14,000 MULTI-COLORED lights will adorn the City’s Tree through the New Year. This year’s colored LED lights will utilize 91% less energy and last 50% longer than standard holiday tree lights.
