Join us for a very special fundraiser benefit for Scandinavian Heritage Foundation and the Portland Chamber Orchestra with legendary jazz great Dick Hyman and friends. Joining Mr. Hyman is Clarinetist Ken Peplowski, and when you hear these two together, it will seem as though they are joined at the hip, musically speaking. Add three outstanding Portland locals, this will be a show not to be missed.

Throughout a busy musical career that got underway in the early ’50s, Dick Hyman has functioned as pianist, organist, arranger, music director, and composer. His versatility in all of these areas has resulted in a long career involving film scores, orchestral compositions, concert appearances and well over 100 albums recorded under his own name. In addition to his activities in the jazz and concert worlds, Mr. Hyman has had a prolific career in New York as a studio musician and won seven Most Valuable Player Awards from the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.

My daughter turns 21 this August, and this would be a BEAUTIFUL and romantic evening for her, and her wonderful boyfriend, Chris.

Kaitlyn studied at a rural area high school, and eventually became an elementary school band instructor’s aid for her senior practicum. But what surprises me most about my daughter is her fierce love for Swing music and Depression-era Jazz.

Now she’s older, living in Portland as a full-time college student. I can’t afford to buy her evenings like this, nor can she of course, and it would make a spectacular evening for her, and Chris.

I doubt you will find someone more excited to attend an evening full of music and good food.
Please consider Kaitlyn for this prize? I would tell her to enter here too, but I am hoping to give her a fantastic birthday surprise should I win this offer.

Thank you for listening, and I hope she gets the chance to have a memorable ealry-start to her birthday! Peace!

    Signed, A Caring Mom
