In a citywide celebration of Portland’s vibrant LGBT community, Portland Monthly will take over an entire block in Southeast Portland for FLARE, its Pride kickoff party, on Thursday, June 11.
Set among three glowing geodesic domes designed and fabricated by Escape Collective, the event is headlined by DJ Spinderella (of Salt-N-Pepa fame), with support from New York’s DJ Venus X, Seattle’s DJ L.A. Kendall, and DJ Mr. Charming of Portland’s monthly Gaycation dance party. The evening will be hosted by Poison Waters and feature live graffiti art by Rai Villenueva, fire dancers, craft cocktails, body painting, and bites from Tastebud, Thrive, Olympia Provisions, and Hungry Heart Cupcakes.
The proceeds from each bar will benefit three remarkable nonprofit organizations: Basic Rights Oregon, New Avenues for Youth, and Equity Foundation. You can toss back a creamsicle, margarita, or whiskey sour for a good cause!
If all that doesn’t get you there, Portland Monthly style editor Eden Dawn will host a best-dressed competition and award one lucky winner the title of Portland Pride’s Best Dressed!
Founding partners Bank of America, Adidas, Jim Beam, Coors Peak, Oregon Lottery, Pemco Insurance, Car2go, Ecotrust, KinkFM, Ecotrust, and Barefoot Wine and Bubbly offer generous support to FLARE.
