The 14th Annual Northwest String Summit (NWSS) returns to Horning’s Hideout (North Plains, OR) with the finest acoustic pickers and standout electric bands from July 16 – 19, 2015. Located just 20 miles outside of Portland, OR, Horning’s Hideout stands as one of the most scenic festival sites in the country; NWSS is the only music offering this year taking place at Horning’s Hideout. A family-friendly and locally-sourced festival, NWSS caps its capacity at 4,500 attendees to ensure an intimate experience for all festival- goers at an incredible ticket price. For more detailed information, please see: www.stringsummit.com.

The 14th Annual Northwest String Summit is hosted by Colorado-based Yonder Mountain String Band; arguably the top touring neo- bluegrass band in the world. Yonder will perform for 3 nights of music, and additional standout acts at this year’s festival include 2 Nights of Greensky Bluegrass, Del McCoury Band, Del & Dawg feat. Del McCoury & David Grisman, 2 Nights of The Infamous Stringdusters, Keller Williams’ Grateful Grass, Keller Williams & The Travelin’ McCourys, The Greyboy Allstars (Late Night Main Stage), Nahko & Medicine For The People, Elephant Revival (2 Sets), Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers, Fruition (2 Nights), Rising Appalachia (2 Nights), Shook Twins, Scott Law & Larry Keel with Darol Anger, Samson Grisman and Jack Dwyer, Larry Keel, Town Mountain, Adam Aijala & Larry Keel, The California Honeydrops, Dead Winter Carpenters, Darol Anger, Shafty, Frank Fairfield, Rumpke Mountain Boys, Henhouse Prowlers, Polecat, Trout Steak Revival, Gipsy Moon, The Grant Farm, The Student Loan, Crow and the Canyon, The Good Time Travelers, Eight Dollar Mountain, Pete Kartsounes, Arthur Lee Land, Alice DiMecele, The Hill Dogs, Left Coast Country, and more acts to be announced soon!

In addition to the Main Stage, this year’s String Summit boasts a brand new late night stage, the Kinfolk Revival Tent. Due to the overwhelming popularity of last year’s late night shows down at the Cascadia Stage, full production sets (including light shows) at the Kinfolk Revival Tent will commence shortly after the Main Stage shows featuring bands such as Greensky Bluegrass, The Infamous Stringdusters, Elephant Revival and Fruition. The Cascadia Stage will continue providing mellow morning entertainment running into the early afternoon, as well as late night music running concurrent with the Kinfolk Revival Tent.

Northwest String Summit partners with singular Portland organizations, food vendors and emerging Pacific Northwest-based musicians as a way to support the various thriving local communities. Celebrated Eugene, OR favorite Ninkasi Brewing Company will offer exceptional craft beers onsite for the fourth year-in-a-row, including an exclusive small-batch NW String Summit Festival Specialty Brew called Clusterpluck Session Ale. Made with Northwest Pale Ale and Honey malts, Clusterpluck is a light and refreshing golden ale — the perfect accompaniment to a summertime jam session. Additional sponsors include Klean Kanteen, Keen, and Marley Coffee.

String Summit event promoter Skye McDonald comments about the forthcoming festival, “More pluck for your buck in 2015! This year is about giving back to our fans, so we’re adding even more music and experiences! So much is in the hopper this year: This year’s talent will get at the heart of String Summit unlike ever before! YMSB is a gateway to traditional Bluegrass in the contemporary music scene and has helped spawn and boost this wildly popular genre, and we’re providing a lot of BOTH worlds with all of our favorites and yours with several sets each this year. Also, TONS of festival experience enhancements are in the works for our 14th Northwest String Summit. Due to the amazing growth and popularity of our second stage, we are adding another full-production stage for some very special, top-tier late night music along with daytime movies and seminars. The Cascadia zone will still be rockin’ all morning and late into the night as well, but we are diversifying by refocusing the area on Pacific Northwest sourced music and refreshments.”

Big Fan here. it’s been toooooo long since I’ve attended String Summit or even been @ Hornings.
Many friends of my close friends have tickets but I don’t (yet). I’ve been holding it down as a director/ co-producer for another summertime festival for years now and June is our busiest work period overall! I need a break and this would be epic!

I have been unemployed for the past 6 months and with limited funds I am not able to go to any festivals and concerts right now. I really wanted to attend Te String Summit this year because I love roots, bluegrass and Americana music. 17. Mari Stephenson June 2, 2015 at 10:39 am #

Just heard about the String Summit a couple of weeks ago from an enthusiast!

I sing with a group out of Vancouver Washington called “Another Shade of Bluegrass.”
Our purpose is to give something we enjoy to the community.
We have been singing as volunteers at various senior living and rehab facilities every week for the past five years.
I would love the opportunity to attend to attend the string summit.

  18. Nicole Harvey June 2, 2015 at 12:01 pm #

Hiyo! I am dying to go to this festival! I live in NOLA and host a weekly bluegrass radio show on a community station, so the lineup is right up my alley! I also want to introduce my boyfriend to the magic of camping at a music fest as it will be his first experience. We already have our plane tickets and these festival tickets would be a HUGE help!

    THANKS!

  19. Kathleen June 2, 2015 at 12:42 pm #

I have lived in Portland my whole life and never gotten to experience Hornings Hideout! Tragic! I, unfortunately for my budget, am a mental health social worker and for financial reasons cannot attend kick ass music fests like this one. PDXPipeline, please help me with my own mental health by giving me this amazing experience! Thanks! Yee! :)

  22. Bobbi Jo June 3, 2015 at 12:00 am #

This would be a great ending to my music therapy internship. A great summary to a great musical journey.

  23. Ashley B June 3, 2015 at 7:12 pm #

Why, hello there! Last year I had tickets and due to a very unfortunate and unforeseeable event I could not make it and gave my ticket to a friend as a gift because she had never been to Horning’s before. Money is tight this year and I wish it wasn’t the only thing standing in my way of going. So here’s to trying to have a good time and sharing with others the wonderful, magical festival that is Northwest String Summit. Cheers!

  24. Brandi Patterson June 4, 2015 at 12:26 pm #

I lost my dad, guy I was seeing and wonderful boss at work all in February. My life could easily be a bluegrass song. Last time I was at Horning Hideout I was playing disc golf with the ex and I would love to go back and listen to the wonderful music and make some new happy memories there.

  25. Gina Crawford June 4, 2015 at 12:42 pm #

Portland is my favorite place to visit for music. It would be fantastic to combine a visit to Portland with a Horning’s. Great music ahead!

  26. Sam June 4, 2015 at 2:20 pm #

I play disc golf at hornings hideout, and it is hands down one of my most favorite places in the state. I’ve never camped or seen music there, and with all of the great things I’ve heard about NWSS, I think this would be such an awesome experience.

  27. Leila June 4, 2015 at 2:29 pm #

    Yes please!!!

  28. Cora Kirkpatrick June 4, 2015 at 2:33 pm #

I would love to win tix! I’ve never been to the NW String Summit as the price for tix is pretty spendy for this stay at home Momma.

I’m a 6th grade teacher, and have spent all year in a room full of 12-year-olds. My last day of teaching is June 12 and i am SO ready for some happy music in the great outdoors and would love to win tickets to this festival to start the summer right!

  35. Walker June 4, 2015 at 3:30 pm #

My girlfriend and I would love to visit this event but we couldn’t afford it. Hope you can help us out!

  36. Steve B June 4, 2015 at 3:59 pm #

Every year I tell myself “this time, I’m going to make it to ‘strummit'”.

Sadly, it STILL hasn’t happened yet, despite friends reinforcing the fact that I missed a “hell of a time” the previous year. So here I am again, struggling with pulling the trigger. The desire to go is very real and very high, but making it work hasn’t yet solidified.

If I had tickets, it would be a no-brainer!

  37. Curtis Eberle June 4, 2015 at 4:02 pm #

Another reason to travel from Idaho to Portland!

  38. Coral June 4, 2015 at 4:50 pm #

I’m working full time all summer and working every weekend, which means I’m missing out on so many fun events and activities! If I won tickets to the Northwest String Summit, I’d take the weekend off and have myself a grand ol’ time! It’d make all those lost weekends worth it :)
The reason I’m working so darn hard all summer is because I’m moving to New Zealand in September, and this may very well be my last chance to attend a big American music festival. With such a stellar line-up and a legendary venue, this will be an amazing send-off!

  60. Rebecca Stone June 9, 2015 at 12:58 pm #

    @},~,~ Hello PDX Pipeline ~,~'{@

Ok. So this is “THE” Annual NW String Summit of 2015t!…&.in my opinion…a total HAVETA!!,
Every year, without fail, I randomly get caught up in a conversation about music festivals or summer campouts & NW String Summit is by many, highly recommended :) All good stuff…. if youre from the Northwest then this shin-dig is part near a right of passage. To attend at least once, to share an epic Hiornings HIdeout experience of The NW String Summit with thousands of musically enlightened guitar strummin masterminds : ). Now that I am older (36) Ive realized that too many times I have allowed marvelous opportunities of musical awesomeness, Just like this one, regretfully pass right by,..I have discovered ..life is best when embraced & savored. I understand now, that i should practice responding more often with a “yes” , instead of answering with my usual obnoxiously narrow “no”.
So With that, I feel that I must share that My Son is 19 and we play disc golf at Hornings HIdeout as often as possible. Been going to this venue since I was a kid, however, NEVER been to The String Summit. For the last 6 years He & I have been learning to play acoustic guitar, He is way better and advanced than I. Cool thing about raising kids is that they are more like their parents than ever realized. He shares with me the same taste & love for music, and it’d be rad to experience this “First Time” with my son.

Thank you for your consideration : )
