Stories, not shots, fuel truly Irish celebrations of St. Patrick’s Day.

Be they hilarious, daring, spooky, sad or downright magical, stories — told straight or wound around the notes of a lovely song — are at the heart of every Irish party.

Now Kiss Me, I’m Irish from the Portland Story Theater showcases the best of Gaelic gab during an evening of tales, songs, dance and music.

Hosted by the incomparable Penny Walter, Kiss Me I’m Irish features storytellers Maura Conlon, Lawrence Howard and Lynne Duddy as well as dancer, singer, and musician Brian O’Hairt and traditional Irish music by Innisfree with Brenda Scearcy and Jim Loewenherz.

Come early to mingle with the performers, enjoy complimentary snacks and check out PST’s new home, Alberta Abbey.

Portland Story Theater’s stories may contain “colorful” language, sexual escapades of a questionable nature and numerous examples of extremely poor judgment, along with profound insights, deep revelations and moments of truth, triumph and transformation.

Im excited to see this event because I’m planning my first trip to Ireland this summer. Hearing people share their passion for the country, for life, it’s something I hear the Irish are legendary at it. I’m excited to experience what these artists will share from the stage. Maybe next year, I’ll have a few Irish tales of my own to offer!
