Registration for the inaugural Ecliptic Beer Mile Run/Walk is now open. The race will kick off at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 31, 2015 and will start and end at Ecliptic Brewing. The Ecliptic Beer Mile is a one of a kind, one-mile race on Mississippi Avenue.

The one-mile race will feature an out and back course starting and finishing at Ecliptic. Runners will take off from N Cook Street and breeze down Mississippi Avenue with beer slogging in their bellies to the halfway point just before N Russell Street. Runners finish the race by returning up the grueling hill on Mississippi Ave to enjoy an ice cold brew. Stick around for an epic after-party complete with music, brewery tours and more!

Participants can register today at www.onemilebeerrun.com. All participants will receive an official race t-shirt and two free Ecliptic beers (for all participants 21 years of age with valid ID). With a capacity of only 600 runners, the race is expected to sell out quickly.

John Harris, the mastermind behind Ecliptic Brewing, is thrilled for the inaugural event: “I am so excited to be part of this new epic running event here in Portland. Running has never been more fun.” Carrie Conway, Operations Director of CK Running, LLC, also echoes Harris’ excitement: “As a recent transplant to the Pacific NW I am thrilled to be a part of bringing this event to Portland. We chose one if the best breweries in the city for a reason and can’t wait for race day!”

The race will be partnering with the Oregon Food Bank as the official charitable partner. The Ecliptic Beer Mile will be collecting canned food donations at packet pickup and on race day. All participants are asked to bring along at least one canned food item to the event.

Omg…running…beer….giving to the OFB….whats not to love?…I’m in ! and the freebie will go to my daughter (fingers ‘n toes are crossed, lol)

  23. Michael Mann March 5, 2015 at 2:19 pm #

There are 2 reasons I really really want to do this event. The first is because I know John Harris from back before he opened Ecliptic – our daughters went to school together and I followed the Ecliptic plan when it was a seed idea. Ecliptic is THE BEST pub in PDX!

But most importantly, May 31 is my birthday! I’ll be 55, and ready to run and drink beer!

  24. Danielle V March 5, 2015 at 2:34 pm #

I’m definitely going to need to start training *sips a brew*

because I can’t just go and think I can run a mile *gulps down more brew*

without training properly *chugs last of brew*

I promise that I’ll have lots of fun training for this. *crack open next brew*

  25. Staci March 5, 2015 at 2:36 pm #

Sounds AWESOME!!! I love to run every day! But… Add a beer in the mix and it sounds 100x’s more awesome! I would love to experience this event ;)

  48. Beth G. March 12, 2015 at 11:32 am #

I am not new to running but I am new to beer. Growing up in Colorado beer meant Coors. Thanks to an insightful bar tender at a local microbrewery (to whom I will be forever grateful) I recently discovered the wonders of sour beer and have enthusiastically embraced tasting sour beers on tap any place that I can find them. When I checked Ecliptic Brewing’s website and saw that they have “Ecliptic DownKriek Cosmic Storm Belgian Sour” I knew that I had to add it to my beer bucket list! This sounds like a really fun event – winning tickets would certainly help me continue my beer journey (and get about 10 minutes of exercise)! But even if I don’t win, I’m glad that PDX Pipeline promoted this event so that I found out about Ecliptic Brewing and was able to add a new beer to my beer bucket list. Cheers!

  49. Scott Landia March 12, 2015 at 2:41 pm #

  55. Aj March 15, 2015 at 1:27 pm #

My husband is the ultimate beer connoisseur and used to lead his man group in epic drinking adventures in Savannah and Charleston. If there anyone I know who would appreciate this its be him. Hes a pretty kicka** runner as well.
I’m entering on his behalf because he deployed but this be an awesome gift to add to his welcome home package!

    • Aj March 15, 2015 at 1:28 pm #

      It’d*

  56. Carson March 15, 2015 at 10:02 pm #

You see, beer works like a zero, except with addition instead of multiplication.
    For example,
    Running + Beer = Awesome!
and, Biking + Beer = Awesome!

This can be made into a simple equation where Beer + X = Awesome!
Why would anyone not want to go to this?

  57. Jasmine Loepp March 16, 2015 at 12:09 am #

Can’t wait for this! After going on the Brewcycle, drinking activities have become one of my favorites! Soooo excited!

Award me a free entry into this fun run and I’ll be a regular patron and a huge advocate of the brewery! It’ll be my way of saying thanks. Cheers!
