More info:

The third annual All Jane No Dick Comedy Festival will be held October 15–19 in Northeast Portland. The first and only festival of its kind, this five-day event presents a carefully curated blend of the best up-and-coming and nationally headlining female comedic performers from throughout the United States and Canada. Five-day passes ($80) and tickets to individual shows ($10–20) are on sale now at

The goal of this festival is to celebrate the unique voices of women in comedy, providing inspiration and increasing visibility for the top performers of today and tomorrow. It encourages collaboration and dialogue and highlights the great diversity of artistic approaches amidst female comedic performers today. Programming for All Jane No Dick 2014 includes stand-up showcases, an improv workshop, podcasts, a film screening, panel discussions, and special themed shows.

Most events will take place at Curious Comedy Theater (5225 NE Martin Luther King Dr.), which produces and sponsors the festival. A special opening night show will be held at Helium Comedy Club (1015 SE 9TH Ave.) Wednesday, October 15, and small shows will take place at Alberta Street Pub (1036 NE Alberta St.) throughout the festival.

Performers at this year’s festival include world-renowned experimental comedian Kate Berlant, the Emmy Award–winning Sara Schaefer (MTV’s Nikki & Sara Live, Inside Amy Schumer, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon), Phoebe Robinson (Broad City, NBC’s Stand Up for Diversity, creator of Blaria and Blaria Live!), DeAnne Smith (2014 finalist on NBC’s Last Comic Standing), Aparna Nancherla (CONAN, Totally Biased), Brooke Van Poppelen (MTV’s Girl Code, Nikki & Sara Live), and Beth Stelling (CONAN, The Pete Holmes Show).

These and many other acclaimed performers descend from New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Austin, San Francisco, and Seattle to share the stage with Portland powerhouses Amy Miller, Kristine Levine, Stacey Hallal, Bri Pruett, JoAnn Schinderle, Susan Rice, Veronica Heath, Lucia Fasano, Katie Nguyen, and Caitlin Weierhauser.

Highlights of this year’s festival include:

  • Picture This!, a show that accompanies stand-up performances with live illustrations.
  • Say Wha?, a show in which comedians lampoon the most terribly written books they can find.
  • The Queer Zone, a showcase of the fest’s LGBTQ performers.
  • An All Jane installment of Amy Miller’s popular monthly show Midnight Ma$$ at the FunHouse Lounge.
  • A screening of the short film Meet My Rapist, followed by a Q&A with writer/director Jessie Kahnweiler.
  • Jill Bernard’s Drum Machine, an improv workshop from Bernard (Education Director, HUGE Theater) followed by Bernard’s award-winning solo show.

Curious Productions is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation; the first non-profit theater in Portland devoted entirely to the art of comedy. The theater is operated by founder and artistic director Stacey Hallal, who studied in Chicago’s top theaters before establishing Curious Comedy in Northeast Portland in October 2008. The theater has created more than 50 original sketch, improvisation, and stand-up comedy productions and regularly hosts nationally touring shows. Its Training Center offers classes and workshops across many comedic disciplines, including improv, sketch writing, and stand-up. For more information, see

Love to hear the ladies make me laugh! Thank you for the chance at free passes.

  2. Ashley October 7, 2014 at 11:08 am #

Would love to see this! I love comedy shows and get tired of mostly seeing male comedians and the rare female comedian. All of these ladies are great performers and I appreciate them because they are just plain funny without basing their entire routine on jokes that mock their own gender.

    Without humor we are lost….
A night of laughter will make me a better person in the word.

I can’t tell you how in need I am of laughing my a** off for a few days and this would do the trick!

I would like to go, not because they are women comics but because they are straight up funny comics. And I ilike laughing until I pee my pants. And I like peeling my pants.

Enjoying some comedy is the best way to spend an evening with a friend :)

  8. Claire P. October 8, 2014 at 11:44 am #

I want to attend because my friend Lucia is performing on two days of the festival; because supporting independent feminist and queer art of all kinds is central to my life; and as a tired/stressed caregiver who works with seniors living with mental illness, I could just use a few laughs!

I was able to catch a couple of these shows last year and they were fantastic. Amy Miller really come into her own since then, and some other great names I’d love to check out. This fest is a great addition to the Portland comedy scene, and hope it succeeds. Thanks Pipeline, for chance to win free tickets.

Follow the drama and comedy will follow! I refer to the sexism poster debacle. :)

  35. layna lewis October 12, 2014 at 2:06 pm #

My 17yr old daughter, Lola, hates me most of the time. She symbolically severed the umbilical cord with knitting needles last week. The one thing we have in common is comedy. Humor is the sour dripping sardonic glue that binds us and saves us from ourselves and eachother.

  36. Abigail Carns October 12, 2014 at 9:40 pm #

i would love to win these tickets! I just moved here a few months ago following a break up and could really use the laughs and stories from incredible female comedians. I was very involved in supporting the comedy scene in Alaska and would love to see what I’ve moved into :)

  37. koto October 13, 2014 at 6:25 am #

My sister will be visiting from out of town. I’d love to see this with her!

  39. michelle lawlor October 13, 2014 at 2:13 pm #

I went to the podcast last year and had a blast. I love the idea of an all female lineup. I need some laughs this weekend.

  40. Jacin Harter October 13, 2014 at 3:43 pm #

I am an active feminist and am so proud to live in Portland where this kind of show is right at home. Tickets to this show would make my life complete. I’ll be doling anything I can to get in. Hoping to photo-bomb anyone protesting (if they actually show up…) Hooray for Men’s Rights, but seriously, this show isn’t infringing on anything, guys- it’s a celebration of laughter – laughter brought to you by incredibly talented women “j

  42. Sharissa October 16, 2014 at 3:40 pm #

After reading about the MRA who’s been protesting this event I can’t help but want to go check it out! They should all personally thank him for the extra publicity!

  43. Thunderrose October 16, 2014 at 4:40 pm #

As a non-dick posessing, vagina-at-birth, standup comedy-loving identified person, this show is exactly for me, but only if you make it happen, pdxpipeline. Will you make it so?

  44. Christina Larson October 3, 2015 at 12:06 pm #

I am a comedy addict. Please help support my habit while also enabling a friend of mine in their addiction. Thank goodness ilaughter is a healthy addiction. Thank you for the opportunity to win tickets. I am super excited about this festival.
