I love all things horror and H.P. Lovecraft is the master as far as I’m concerned. We simply don’t get enough cinematic interpretations of his works, so going to this festival would be an excellent opportunity.

I’m a raging nerd where anything H.P. Lovecraft is concerned, and I would love to catch a solid 2 hour block of Lovecraftian goodness. It’s the only consolation for the fact that Guillermo Del Toro’s ‘At the Mountains of Madness’ never went anywhere : (

Huge H.P. Lovecraft fan, this would be a great date night for us, our first since moving to Portland.

The shorts have always been the best part of Lovecraft Fest! Thanks for the chance to win!

  10. Greg September 25, 2014 at 2:45 pm #

I’ve seen most of the full-length films at Lovecraft cons, but I’m pretty behind on the shorts.

I hear the eldritch thumping of turgid tenticles and the gnashing of mandibles followed by a great crashing as the incomprehensible horror of the Day-Shift Manager crawls up behind me and speaks in a guttural howl “What are you doing? Is this work? Are you writing about me? I can see this, you know, I’m standing right here.”
No scream escapes my lips but my throat is seized by terror- I fear at any moment I might be pulled away from my computer and –

Strange schemes are afoot in Portland, preparing the way for the Ancient One’s awakening. So says my friend, at least. She’s become increasingly anxious over the months and recently began talking about something dark and sinister whispering to her from the periphery of her consciousness when she’s alone. She keeps mentioning “dark cultists” and “elder signs.” I’m not sure what to do, but she brought my attention to this film festival and is utterly convinced she will find the answers she seeks there. Please help me try to get her some relief and let us have the free tickets!

I am fascinated by his writings. I appreciate how other authors, like Brian Lumley are compared to him. Controversy is my middle name and there appears to be much surrounding him.
    I enjoy attending.

I wo-ld love to go to this again, went a year or so ago and had a blast.

My husband loves HP Lovecraft. For our first year anniversary (dating) I bought him Necronomicon. His 21st birthday is October 4 of this year. I would LOVE to win tickets and be able to take him to this film festival as a special birthday present and surprise!!!

  24. Jacob H. September 30, 2014 at 11:12 am #

I have been reading HP Lovecraft’s short stories for about a decade, and every time I read them, even if it is a story I’ve read before, I still get feelings of eldritch dread and strange curiosity.

I’ve heard that this festival is a blast, and I’d love to have tickets to go!

  25. Tom Lacki October 1, 2014 at 4:31 pm #

My wife and I are separated but we both decided to have a date on the same night as the festival. She would love it if I would surprise her with tickets….

My childhood was filled with Lovecraft references from my dad. From the time we dissected squids in my 2nd grade class to when the East Bay Mud came to talk to us about the bay… while wearing tentacle suits, my dads was always making Cthulhu jokes. To this day, Lovecraft gives me warm, fuzzy feelings about my childhood.

My hubby loves Cthulhu, and it’s fun to say!

  32. Tiffany October 2, 2014 at 10:54 pm #

My husband loves the books, says they’re creepy, but hasn’t seen any of the films. He’s always talking about the Dunwich horror and how Cthulhu is going to rise from the deep to put an end to reality TV.

  33. david October 2, 2014 at 11:07 pm #

hit the festival at the Clinton Street Theater a few years back, and loved it! Would love to see what this one has to offer in terms of shorts.

  34. Donna October 2, 2014 at 11:39 pm #

I’ve attended every Lovecraft film fest. Was bummed that I have to miss this viewing due to finances. Very excited to find this bit of hope.

  35. Patrick October 3, 2014 at 6:32 am #

I loves me some Lovecraft, I do. I’ve even got an whiskey tumbler with Cthulhu etched into the glass; oh, and a Cthulhu Fish stuck to the back of my car. I also have a broke friend who would love to go to this fest with me.

  36. Renata October 3, 2014 at 8:47 am #

The Hollywood Theater is the perfect venue for this event. Hope I can attend!
