My grandparents lived here in Portland most of their adult lives, my mother was born and raised here, and my sister was born here. I however grew up in Florida where the fruits, trees and landscaping were very different. I remember visiting my grandmother often and how she would take us on a tour of her yard plant by plant and explain the variety and needs of each one. Her yard was impeccable, it’s own little paradise garden. The gardening bug was instilled in me, only I grew up under a different fauna. I have moved here to Pirtland and although my grandparents passed away I feel connected each time I see a beautiful yard and the incredible flowers and trees. A trip to the gardens would be like having tome with my grandmother again.

There hasn’t been a Zenlike state of grace in my life in far too long….perhaps 6 years long…since I last stepped foot in the enchanting Japanese Gardens. My birthday is Saturday, which time always brings to mind thoughts of mortality, thoughts of the need for more beauty in one’s life. I need a Zen injection, and I need it now.

Hoping the Zenkarma wheel will agree… Spin it, please!

This being said, Diana needs these tickets now for her own healing. I don’t know her but read her post. Please give her this beautiful healing experience of the Japanese Gardens. I will eventually make my way. Thank you for the beautiful work and dedication you offer to all of us in the garden!
