The long-awaited final film of the late actress Brittany Murphy will hit theaters in the greater Portland Metro beginning April 11, 2014. This movie was delayed in post-production due to the tragic circumstances, but is finally being given a limited release in the Pacific Northwest, with a national release to follow. The entire film was shot in Oregon’s southern Willamette Valley, and boasts a Pacific Northwest production crew and a largely locally-sourced supporting cast.

In addition to Murphy’s performance as Susan, the moral center of the film, “Something Wicked” stars Shantel VanSanten (“One Tree Hill,” “Final Destination”), Julian Morris (“Once Upon a Time”, “Pretty Little Liars”), Portland native and Gus Van Sant favorite, John Robinson (“Elephant,” “Lords of Dogtown”), James Patrick Stuart (“Supernatural”), and introducing Angelique Perrin.

A suspenseful and seductive thriller about obsession and young love gone wrong, “Something Wicked” is a Merchant Films production, directed by Darin Scott, written and produced by Joe Colleran. Merchant Films produces major motion pictures filmed in Oregon, using Pacific Northwest crews, actors, and locations, and is committed to bringing national focus and revenue into Oregon’s burgeoning film industry.

I was a Brittany Murphy fan. Also, I am a Gus Van sant fan. The combination of these two great talents, the film should be off the chain. I am a believer and a lover of all types of movies. I truly would be blessed and honored to see this movie.

I am Brittany fan and was devastated by her death. She stole the show in Clueless and I like to believe her true, quirky personality came out in Uptown Girls. My favorite role was Girl Interrupted. The chickens undert the bed….ewww! She held her own with Winona and Angelina. I like all movie genres but especially like suspenseful, scary ones so seeing Brittany in my favorite genre would be amazing! The icing on the cake is that it was filmed in the NW and in a city I lived in for 5 years while attending OU (Go Ducks!). Besides it would be great to reference another movie filmed in Eugene besides Animal House, even though it is a classic.
