Tonight we welcome the house musicians from the venerable Seattle house of jam, The Seamonster Lounge (please go there when in town–they are kindred souls). Headlining the evening is McTuff. Hammond organist Joe Doria brings together some of the best of the NW music scene to create a powerful and jaw-dropping funk and jazz sound like you’ve never heard, exhibiting a mix of stellar musicianship, seasoned songwriting and deep groove where no musical stone gets unturned.

McTuff is a movin’ and groovin’ adventure that you will not soon forget, featuring the impeccable Andy Coe on guitar, the incredible Tarik Abouzied on drums. McTuff began in 2008 as an ode to jazz organ greats Jimmy Smith and Captain Jack McDuff, and has since evolved into a versatile and exciting group that has performed across the nation. The band has two albums under its belt, their 2009 release McTuff Vol. 1 and their 2011 follow-up McTuff Vol. 2: After the Show, with a third slated for release in Spring 2014.

McTuff has performed at Bumbershoot, the New Orleans Jazz Fest, as well as festivals and venues all over the US. The band has also held a residency at Seattle’s legendary Seamonster Lounge for over five years. Their Tuesday night show has become regular stop for local and traveling musicians including Skerik, Allen Stone, Jeff Coffin (Dave Matthews Band), G Love (and Special Sauce), Blake Lewis, Kevin Sawka, and many others.

The members of McTuff have performed and toured with an impressive list of world-renowned groups and artists including Carlos Santana, Stanton Moore, Ravi Coltrane, Bobby Previte, Michael Shrieve, Mike Stern and many others.

Seriously? Nobody has commented yet? I’ll be driving down from Seattle for this funky-ass night of debauchery. Because Bucket of Honey sounds so sweet. Because Jimmy James don’t play no games (along w/ the rest of F2D for that matter). And because when it comes to McTuff, you just can’t get enough! Portland isn’t gonna know what hit ’em! :D

Yahoo!!! Portland whuppersnappers are about to get your boots blown off by these funkadaisical dudes. Please let me go. Last time I saw these guys at the Seamonster, my friends and I got so riled up, one of us made out with a brick column! True story!

That last time McTuff brought their friends Funky 2 Death and Bucket of Honey down I-5 to take over the Goodfoot, those in attendance were presented with an all night long dance party.

The three bands rotated in and out every 15-30 minutes, while also sharing the stage with sit-ins galore. Keeping track of who sat in with who, was a chore.

The Seamonster is a sushi restaurant and music venue in Seattle which hosts quality bands/musicians night in and night out. McTuff has a Tuesday night residency which they’ve had locked down for months, or even years. I’m looking forward to gettin’ down this Saturday night, at my favorite club in town, the Goodfoot. Welcome Seamosters!

McTuff always throws down for the love of music and it’s even better when they bring all their Seamonster Lounge friends! I’ve missed them the last few times they’ve been in town (Skerik was even with them last time!) and I just can’t wait to dance to their funky jazz tunes. Cheers to live music!

McTuff is amazing! Seeing them will help me get over the withdrawals I’m feeling after the Galactic show with Stanton Moore a few weeks ago. McTuff is just another one of the amazing bands that MAKE you dance! And not having been to a show at the GoodFoot yet, I feel like I HAVE to be there dance, dance, dance! Thank you for the opportunity. :-)

I have always wanted to see McTuff! And they’re playing with Bucket of Honey, who I love so dearly! I would be beyond jazzed to go.
