Beginning a yoga practice is really about understanding how much potential you have to move your body and fill your mind with peaceful, inspired thoughts about the way things actually are.

Join Skylor in this 5 class series on the basics of vinyasa yoga. The series focuses on foundational postures and the concept of movement linked with breath.

Key components are: safety and alignment in chaturanga, warrior postures, balancing, hip opening, twisting and even a little arm balancing.

Enroll in the series if you fit any of the following criteria:

  • you’ve never practiced yoga
  • you’ve been practicing yoga for a little while but don’t really understand what you’re supposed to be doing
  • it’s been a long time since you’ve been to the mat and need a refresher
  • you want to know more about following your breath in a vinyasa style yoga class

    I’m a teacher. I work 12-17 hours a day. I don’t exercise. I’ve lost myself. Spring Break just started, and I have decided … no, mandated, that I get my butt moving! It’s time to work on myself! :) In the last three days, I’ve gone snowshoeing, bike riding along the Springwater Cooridor, and hiking in Tryon Creek. I’ve always heard that yoga is good for the body, mind, and soul. I could use some of that goodness!

    i’ve never been to yoga but i’ve always wanted to. Most of my friends do yoga and when they talk about it i feel embarrassed that i have never taken a class. i ache a lot and have an awful reach and feel this kind of stretching would really help me.

I’m sending out a questionnaire to all attendees to get a clear read on just what all participants are looking for.     I’ve been practicing yoga on and off for the past 5 months. I had my first born son this past October and needed something that would help me snap back to my old self. Doing it on my own with a DVD I purchased before labor, has not been working out for me too well.     I’d like very much to do the Vinyasa yoga beginner series– but, having lost my job a month ago, I can’t afford anything but life’s bare essentials. I don’t get to buy myself a thing! So I’m hoping I’ll be lucky and my name will be drawn. Having had multiple surgeries over the course of the past two years, I need the centering, health and focus that i associate with yoga. I hope to get a chance to try it!

    Seven years after I was hit by a car, I’m still having a lot of pain and stiffness. When I *do* go to yoga, it helps a lot. I know I badly need to get involved with yoga again. This would jumpstart my efforts at feeling better!

    I’ve been doing yoga for years, though sometimes that just means touching my toes in the mornings or remembering to take a deep breath between sips of tea…I’d love to re-create a routine for myself, and know that going to classes would help me a lot with that.
