This mobile big band spectacular (known as M4 to fans) is a sonic party of electric bass, a diverse percussion ensemble and a brassy horn section, and a visual kaleidoscope of costumed dancing beauties, acrobatic stilt walkers, fire arts (venue permitting), hula-hoopers, and many more theatrics. The sound is huge, melodic, and dynamic, taking audiences on a musical journey around the globe.

MarchFourth writes and performs its own material, and also draws inspiration from an eclectic range of worldwide influences, such as Eastern European gypsy brass, samba, latin, funk, afro-beat, big-band, jazz, and rock music, as well as television, film, circus, and vaudeville. With exceptional musical quality and memorable energy, and the spectacle of the dancers, M4 “rocks” with the best of them while entertaining the audience with an over-the-top explosion of performance, color and charisma.

For as long as I have been in Portland, I have never seen March Fourth. I have been told over and over that I need to, I just have never been able to actually get out there and do it. Will this be my chance?

March Fourth Marching Band embodies the crackling energy and joie de vivre of Portland! Upbeat. Cheerful. Sizzling. I’m hoping to score a few tickets for my friends who just moved to Portland. I can’t think of a better ‘welcome to PDX’ than to bring them to a M4 show.

  3. Missy Townsend February 26, 2014 at 10:06 am #

I’d like to go because M4 is about the best thing that Portland ever produced!

  4. Kris Whildin February 26, 2014 at 10:25 am #

Oh yeah! M4 on Mardi Gras day might be the only thing to take away the “I ain’t in New Orleans” Blues.

  5. Astrogirl February 26, 2014 at 10:55 am #

I be wanting those tickets– because– I’ve done hosted a couple of M4 anniversary After parties and you can only IMAGINE the devastation of this amazing hurricane.

Anyway– who else it gonna offer motorboats if I’m not there?

    Cheers! xoxox astro

(P.S. and… I may be short on cash this month)

I fell in love at a M4 show some years ago. I had gone to many before and have gone to many since- but not in awhile.

That love has passed… But I’m so ready to go Marching Forth with my bestie. It would be a wonderful distraction for her- she has been enduring some intense hardships.

We will sparkle so hard if we are able to go! And who’s to say I won’t fall in love (on [email protected]) again?! Xox.

  9. Nyla February 26, 2014 at 12:31 pm #

My husband and I were band geeks in High School! We would absolutely love this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a friend from Nola visiting the PNW for the first time & this show would be the perfect party.

  13. Tim February 27, 2014 at 12:15 am #

  14. Lorraine Hearn February 27, 2014 at 1:33 am #

Marching bands are my most favorite form of entertainment! My adorable brother in-law has been a stilt dancer for March Fourth for years, but is now not able to due to a knee injury. I have tried several times to go to a performance but each time was unable to due to conflicting schedules, the performance time changing, or bad weather. I have their CD and love the music, I have watched many YouTube videos and would LOVE to see them performance in person. My husband has recently lost his job and now finally when the time and hopefully weather cooperates, I don’t have the money to go. I would LOVE the opportunity to see their show. I’d LOVE the opportunity to celebrate Mardi Gras with the most talented group in town!
    Thanks for the consideration.
