The Northwest’s own “concert rock violinist” will return to Downtown’s First Congregational Church to celebrate the thirteenth year of holiday concerts on Friday and Saturday, December 20th and 21st. Aaron Meyer will perform three shows with his six-piece concert rock orchestra featuring renowned guitarist and producer, Tim Ellis. The concerts will be a mix of traditional Christmas favorites and original compositions infused with Meyer’s unique blend of classical, progressive rock and world music influences.

The Concert Series features new performers for the 2013 event that include the renowned Steve Cannon Horn Trio featuring Renato Caranto on sax, the child-talent Rebecca Loprinizi on violin, and young vocalist, Jordan Bailey, who recently turned 11 years old. In performance for the first time at an Aaron Meyer Holiday Concert will be the spectacular pipe organ that is the centerpiece of the First Congregational Church venue. Past Holiday Concerts have featured the gospel inspired Brown Sisters quartet, Fijian superstar – Jale Mareau, Irish fiddler’s and dancers, The Gothard Sisters, and many more.

The Umpqua Private Bank Aaron Meyer Holiday Concerts presented by the Hedinger Foundation will take place at 7:30 pm Friday, with two performances on Saturday, at 2:00 and 7:30 pm. Meyer will perform on acoustic and electric violin and will be accompanied by Ellis, pianist Jean-Pierre Garraud and band. Looking forward to my Cella, I would enjoy, very much, bringing my mother, sister, self and friends to this event. I love the classical infused with rock and the thought of being there would satisfy me/us more, than the succulent chocolate surrounding that delicious liquefied cherry.

  21. Donna December 12, 2013 at 10:28 pm #

I would love to take hubby out to see him live. It would be a great way celebrate the Holidays!

  22. Debbie Morley December 12, 2013 at 11:13 pm #

My Sweetheart’s parents are not used to being included in special outings like this. They are 85 and 80, and often are not invited out because he’s getting rather shaky, even with a walker. This is the perfect time of day for an outing with them and they’d LOVE the music! Having 8 tickets allows me to invite 4 of our children too. It would make a GREAT family memory, especially since this might be the 85 year olds last Christmas. Thanks for putting this opportunity out there for everyone.

  23. Laurie December 12, 2013 at 11:50 pm #

That is my daughter’s 20th birthday and I would love to take her!

  24. Cheryl December 13, 2013 at 12:15 am #

  27. James December 13, 2013 at 4:13 pm #

  28. Zuwena Belt December 14, 2013 at 4:37 pm #

Never have seen violinist live, and I think this would be awesome to see! Maybe it will inspire me to play my violin too. If anything it will make a memorable Xmas night with my special ones.

  29. Frank Byers December 15, 2013 at 3:31 pm #

This sounds like a wonderful concert.

  30. Yerfren Enmine December 15, 2013 at 4:25 pm #

This is proper strings music. I neeed proper strings music. I will clap quite loudly and enthusiastically at all of the appropriate times, thus igniting a fervor and energy in the crowd that will truly support Mr. Meyer in return for what he will no doubt deliver. I will hop to my feet at the end like a kangaroo on a trampoline, drawing the audience along with me like a moving magnet, ensuring an audience-wide standing ovation. I’ll wear a nice shirt, too.

    Tickets for two, please?

  31. karen willard December 16, 2013 at 1:33 pm #

Because Aaron Meyers opens my heart like nobody else. His music sounds of hope and tenderness, passion too, and this is what i wish for this Christmas. For me. For everyone. (But pick me. ;))

  33. Pam W December 17, 2013 at 8:43 pm #

I’d be so thrilled to win these rickets. I’ve been fortunate to see a Christmas and a Valentine’s Day concert by Aaron and both were magnificent. His music makes my whole core happy and filled with excitement. His CD’s are some of my very favorite.

  34. Sunnie Johnson December 17, 2013 at 8:50 pm #

I would like to win tickets because I’ve had a rough year and it would lift my spirit and fill my soul with hope to hear this wonderful music and to also share it with my friend who has been battling health issues. Thank you and blessings!

  35. Patty Price-Yates December 17, 2013 at 9:01 pm #

My husband and I would love to make this performance our grandson Dashel’s first ever live performance. What a way to introduce our first grandchild to professional musicianship and professional performance. The addition of the children in the performance will delight and engage him. He is three…the same age his uncle (our firstborn) began attending live performances. Dashel’s father played trombone as did my husband (Dashel’s maternal grandfather) and Dashel’s great grandfather who played tuba, drums, and banjo. Dashel’s maternal grandmother also played trombone. Dashel is already interested in the guitar and he’s three…the same age his uncle began playing the drums.

    • Patty Price-Yates December 17, 2013 at 9:10 pm #

I might add that with a total of eight tickets, Master Dashel, his mother and father, my husband and I, (his maternal grandparents), his great grandfather and great grandfather (still living and playing in bands) AND his drum playing uncle Cyrus would ALL be able to enjoy the performance together!

  40. Jen December 18, 2013 at 3:18 pm #

I would love to win to take my 11 year old daughter to see this show. She loves music and is such a special lady to be patient and understanding while I finish my last year of nursing school ;1)

  41. John December 19, 2013 at 12:48 pm #

Would love to see this and show my daughter an awesome concert!

  42. Susie Borgia December 19, 2013 at 4:39 pm #

Although it is inspiring to see the “youngsters” at Christmas time…my focus is on finding just the right gift for Steve, for “Stevemas” (had the “luck” of being born on Christmas day…)…and he really likes music! This would be an excellent early birthday present for him and his wife (2 tix or 3 if you think I should celebrate with them?)…and besides I just love to say the word “Umpqua”’s fun, it’s festive all on it’s own!

  43. Sara Bubenik December 19, 2013 at 5:03 pm #

My Husband and I haven’t been able to afford anything for the holidays or attend any holiday events due to lack of funds. I would like to take my family to this event including my 17 year old daughter, husband, and 16 yo niece. It would really make out christmas.

  44. Scott Worthington December 19, 2013 at 5:26 pm #

Missed him At Kink, this would more than make up for that error on my part!

  45. Margaret December 19, 2013 at 5:53 pm #

Like Scott, I missed him at Kink this year. My husband has had a violin lesson with Aaron, and most importantly the 21st is my 22nd wedding anniversary, so it would be such a treat for me and my husband.
