Goodfoot favorites, Jujuba, are an 8 piece Afrobeat, juju and funk behemoth. Led by master talking drummer, Nojeem Lasisi King Sunny Ade), the band lays down extended dance cuts with massive percussion, rubbery bass-lines and a full horn section.

Tonight they welcome special guests, Seattle’s Rippin’ Chicken. Formed from deep within the Westsound Union, Rippin’ Chicken plays a greasy brand of funky, boogaloo and soul jazz, executed with creative ease by 3 funky brothers from different mothers who LOVE to play together. After performing and recording together for the better part of a decade in groups such as, The Funk Revolution, The Lucky Mystery Now Orchestra, and The Bucks (all under the direction of the great Lucky Brown), Rippin’ Chicken presents this power-house rhythm section as the center of attention, playing the music they wanna, in a style that is all their own. “A soul-food Organ trio gone Rippin”.

This sounds like music I could get down to! I live just down the street and would love to go.

I cant think of a better way to heat up in the chilly eve but to booty shake and groove to some luscious beats. It would be great to get out dancing!

Would love see the always-entertaining Jujuba, with the talented Matt Gordon on bass, and all their (b)ass-shakin’ tunes.

Plus, I’m Intrigued to see if Rippin’ Chicken really serves up a “greasy” brand of soul and funk. Would love the chance to get rippin’ and find out.

I’ve seen jujuba but my wife hasn’t.
They are one of the best dance bands ever and I’d like to get my wife out stepping to that music.
We’re going to be staying up the gorge this weekend and I would love to come back into portland and hear those bands. Plus we’re low on cash, so we probably wouldn’t do it unless we won the tix.
