Because the thought of a fake tree is all too depressing :)

    • Katia Lane November 21, 2013 at 3:15 pm #

      Because I’m amazing, that’s why!

    • Jenni December 19, 2013 at 2:14 am #

I would sure love to win this tree for my friend who cannot afford to buy one this year. I am also looking for free trees for needy National Guard service members. I stumbled across a web site that had coupons earlier this week but cannot find it now. There were some donated to Camp W. but they are all gone.
If you can help, please text me asap.

  2. Christine November 13, 2013 at 10:53 am #

Embarrassing as it is, I’ve been raised only knowing artificial Christmas trees in our house. Now that I finally have a place of my own, I’d love to start with a REAL tree!

  3. Melissa November 13, 2013 at 10:54 am #

There is NOTHING more wonderful than the thought of a freshly cut tree to start off the Christmas holiday! We typically go with a non-organic tree, ie. fake, but who could resist the chance to have a real tree in the house this year? We might just start a new tradition of getting a real tree rather than buying those scents to generate that real tree smell in the house! My poor kids, all they know is fake…I guess this might be a sign if it’s as easy as having someone deliver it to the doorstep!

  4. A Tree November 13, 2013 at 11:04 am #

I would like to have one of my fellow trees delivered to me. As I am a tree, I have no money. I am a lonely tree and would like a tree friend for the holidays.

  5. KAREN M November 13, 2013 at 11:36 am #

I’m tired of artificial trees. Missing the aroma of a beautiful nice pine yearly. I hear the Christmas tree Co.-Op has the best trees! I’d love to win & share the holiday spirit admiring the tree with family & friends. Tis the season to be jolly!

  6. Tamara Colpitts November 13, 2013 at 12:05 pm #

I would be greatly thankful if my family were to win this Christmas Tree. We are a very low-income family of five. My 3 young children would be sooo thrilled to get a real tree for them to decorate and gather around on Christmas morning opening up their presents. We are struggling financially this year and would greatly benefit from having our tree needs met this holiday season. Happy Holidays.

    • J Chhim November 13, 2013 at 12:54 pm #

Tamara, if you go to their Join page,!join/c19m0 , you can help your friends save $5 off every tree, earn a little cash in doing so, and help out a great local charity. I hope you win.

  7. Sian November 13, 2013 at 12:55 pm #

I have the not so fun job of taking down the tree every year. As it’s my husband and children who get to pick it, it’s usually of the cheaper, not so fresh kind. Leaving me to hopefully not kill the vacuum, which has happened before ;( Winning a tree from The Christmas Tree Co-op will save me this worry and I would be feeling pretty pleased too, winning a local tree and getting to soak that up for a whole month!

  8. Lorea November 13, 2013 at 3:27 pm #

We might just have a charlie brown kind of tree, nothing wrong with that… but it would be fun to have our 3 and 1 year old decorate a real tree!

  9. Jessica November 13, 2013 at 5:01 pm #

My boyfriend promised me a tree last year and it never came. This might be my only chance to get one this Christmas!

  10. Sheila November 13, 2013 at 6:53 pm #

Winning this tree would definitely make Christmas this year for my son and I. I’m a single Mom, raising a teenage son, work pt and go to school ft (Nursing). I know I won’t have the budget this year to get a tree, and presents for my son will be limited to one or two. It’s always just been the two of us so Christmas each year has been stressful for me, but I’ve always been able to make it special and memorable for my son. The presents are not as important to my son as the tree is; for him the tree is his favorite part of Christmas and always has been. So winning this tree would make his Christmas and would be a huge weight off of my shoulders.

  11. Katie Campos November 14, 2013 at 8:59 am #

Every New Years Eve my family comes up with words for the year.. Last year my word was LOVE and my husbands ( who at the time was my boyfriend) word was Family. During the year we got married and in September had a beautiful baby girl. This Christmas will truly be a celebration of Love and Family. This Christmas tree would add to our first Christmas as a family!

  12. GaYlEeN November 14, 2013 at 9:27 am #

What better way to get into the spirit of the holidays…fresh scent of a tree!

  13. Miyuki November 14, 2013 at 11:35 am #

I would love to celebrate Our first Christmas at our new house with a Christmas tree ! It will meant a lot to us.

  14. Briana Reed November 14, 2013 at 11:56 am #

I would love to receive this christmas tree gift because I recently got really excited for Christmas unlike the past years because its my first Christmas with my girlfriend and her first Christmas with her dad, he’s been serving in the army for 20 years and finally got to come home. It would be really helpful to have extra Christmas money this year.

  15. Miranda November 14, 2013 at 12:52 pm #

My daughters would be so thrilled to have a real tree. I can smell it already.

  16. Asbury November 14, 2013 at 2:50 pm #

The scent of a fresh tree in the house will make my first Christmas in Portland one to remember!

  17. Anna November 14, 2013 at 3:05 pm #

OMG OMG OMG I would love to win a Christmas tree!! My house has been a disgusting contstruction zone for what feels like forever (roughly a year) and I hope to have it to the point of being able to fit and enjoy a Christmas Tree by Christmas! winning a tree would be such a treat!

  18. Brandy November 14, 2013 at 3:08 pm #

  24. Mary November 14, 2013 at 3:26 pm #

If I won a tree then I could use the money I saved to buy ornaments! Last year’s tree only had two…

  25. Dom November 14, 2013 at 3:31 pm #

Free tree!?!? Yes please :) Would be a great way to celebrate our new home!

    that would be great

  27. Jennifer Miller November 14, 2013 at 3:39 pm #

I’ve already been watching Hallmark holiday movies and bought a winter scented candle… bring on the tree!

  28. Cora Kirkpatrick November 14, 2013 at 3:39 pm #

Hubby insists on a fake tree because we own one and it’s free. My kiddos have never had a real tree. Lame!

  29. Becca November 14, 2013 at 3:39 pm #

What an exciting thing for my family to have a wonderful tree delivered to us this year. Being on Trimet, we have to beg and barter for rides. So let’s get a tree delivered from a great organization that wants to help those in need. All about paying it forward this year :-)

  30. Michele Davis November 14, 2013 at 3:45 pm #

I started the tradition of getting a tree and having a people come over and make decorations out of everything they can find or bring, getting them drunk, and then we decorate it. Every year my housemates look at me with dread and delight when I say, “so when should we get a tree?” Last year I got the tree home by bribing the tree man to bring it to my house in his truck. We then proceeded to break the tree stand while almost being killed by the tree falling on us, after which one housemate looked at me, sweat dripping down his forehead, and said, ” I am ready to just throw this @#$%& tree on the curb”. Thankfully with an emergency tree stand loan from a friend, we somehow sawed the trunk down with a rusty saw from the neighbor with extra assistance from a giant carving knife, got the screws in the trunk, and propped that sucker up in the corner and it stayed still. We could almost hear the Jesus cry. The housemates are always happy when it is over cause we have the weirdest, awesomest, tree every year for three years.
Now, to have a tree delivered for free! Well that would be a Christmas miracle that would definitely make the housemates teary eyed and this lady all merry and bright.

  31. Brianna November 14, 2013 at 3:50 pm #

I’d like to win a tree because I just traveled here from Southern California after he got out of the marine corps freshly back from deployment in Afghanistan, which was his second deployment. We moved here with no money or a job. My fiancé and I just got on our feet and got our first place together!! So exciting for us! So we would love to have a tree to complete our apartment this Christmas

  32. William Stewart November 14, 2013 at 3:56 pm #

Would love to have real tree this year :-)

  33. Anne November 14, 2013 at 4:09 pm #

This would be my first live Christmas tree ever. I promise I’ll water it, and love it, and call it George.

  34. Cdavid Cottrill November 14, 2013 at 4:12 pm #

Who wouldn’t love a free tree?!?!
What a happy present this would be.

  35. Cody S. November 14, 2013 at 4:32 pm #

I have Christmas spirit, but no Christmas tree.

  36. michelle November 14, 2013 at 4:34 pm #

I think winning one is the only way my boyfriend will let a live tree in the house. Seriously.

  37. Jim November 14, 2013 at 4:42 pm #

Winning a delivered fresh Christmas tree would be a very welcome generous gift to make the holidays bright for me and my family. Thank you.

  38. Allie November 14, 2013 at 4:50 pm #

My husband really loves Christmas. Me, not so much. We tried to bring a tree home on a Trimet bus last year but the driver wouldn’t let us. Sadly we had to abandon it and, without a car, never had the opportunity to get another one. Please let me surprise him this year!!!

  39. Jennifer November 14, 2013 at 5:10 pm #

My boyfriend wants a wreath, but I have lots of pretty Christmas ornaments I want to hang. Last year he hung them in the fridge, this year I want to have them on a tree!

  40. Yolande November 14, 2013 at 5:28 pm #

It would be a blessing to get a free Christmas tree this year! I have been out of work for months and my husband will soon be layed off because he is a landscaper.

  41. Scott November 14, 2013 at 5:40 pm #

This would be my first tree

  42. kristi November 14, 2013 at 5:41 pm #

Giving the gift of a real beautiful Christmas tree to my kiddos this year would be the best. The smell, the look, the feel of the tree is what brings memories to every family at this time of year.

  43. Sarah November 14, 2013 at 5:56 pm #

If I win I will donate it to a family in need. My cat would love it but I wouldn’t.

  44. Salena November 14, 2013 at 5:57 pm #

Because my cat Zoe really needs something new and festive to destroy.

  45. Allie November 14, 2013 at 6:24 pm #

    Yes please!

  46. Thomas November 14, 2013 at 6:25 pm #

I love the smell of Xmas trees

  47. Vicki November 14, 2013 at 6:29 pm #

    holy awesomeness

    • James Kirk November 14, 2013 at 7:15 pm #

  49. April November 14, 2013 at 7:34 pm #

There’s nothing like real Christmas tree smell.

  50. Shannon M. November 14, 2013 at 7:58 pm #

We would rock a free Christmas tree. Simple as that!

  51. Lisa November 14, 2013 at 8:02 pm #

Would love a fresh new tree for our brand new first home! We’d decorate it, put gifts under it, and take pictures to sprawl all over Facebook so everyone would know where this great tree came from!

  52. Mandy November 14, 2013 at 8:39 pm #

I’m from South Carolina and my entire life growing up I never had a real Christmas tree. Now that I live in the PNW, I’d like to change that tradition!

  53. Betsy November 14, 2013 at 9:22 pm #

This Jewish girl is excited for her first very own tree! Help me to light up the holidays, goy-style!

  54. Dianka November 14, 2013 at 9:53 pm #

I’d love a Christmas tree delivered to my house because with a newborn it will be so helpful.

  55. Evelyn Johnson November 15, 2013 at 3:31 am #

this is the first Christmas in a very long time I’ve been super excited about celebrating the holidays. this would be the icing on my yule log.

  56. Comfort November 15, 2013 at 6:40 am #

Really? Little kids and under employed + real xmas tree = I believe!

  57. Susan November 15, 2013 at 7:57 am #

I’d love a live Christmas tree, I haven’t a real one since childhood.

  58. Lauren November 15, 2013 at 8:06 am #

Because I live on the fourth floor with a tiny old elevator… Mwaha.

  59. Rachel November 15, 2013 at 8:58 am #

I would give it to my sister who can’t afford a Christmas tree for her kids this year.

  60. stacie November 15, 2013 at 1:26 pm #

My other tree is in a different city and I can’t afford another one

  61. lisa November 15, 2013 at 2:30 pm #

We are going to make a cardboard tree UNLESS i win this one…please!

  62. Elias November 15, 2013 at 3:16 pm #

We have finally got a place to call ours after living with others trying to get on our feet has been hard. Now that its ours first Christmas where we get to pick a tree it would be wonderful to have this beautiful tree sitting in my families living room so please please read and consider us thank you.

  63. Ilesha November 15, 2013 at 5:29 pm #

I would bedazzle the heck out of that tree! Santa would be proud

  64. Marty Anderson November 15, 2013 at 5:39 pm #

Great idea. Deliver me a free tree.

  65. Chelsea Bianchi November 15, 2013 at 6:21 pm #

Being unemployed for so long, I have been considering doing without a Christmas tree and Christmas presents. This would be very welcome in our little home. And we would be happy with an even smaller tree,

  66. Kate November 15, 2013 at 8:35 pm #

My husband and I carried our tree last year on our backs WALKING about 30 blocks to get it home! This is what you have to do when you want a tree and live car-free! However, we’d be ever-so-grateful if you saved us the trip this year and brought the tree right to us! We’d even give you cookies as a thank-you! :)

  67. Kim November 15, 2013 at 9:52 pm #

This will be our first Christmas in Portland and we would love to decorate a beautiful tree grown right here in Oregon!! Cookies and a hot drink for the wonderful delivery people too!!
    Merry Christmas!!

  68. Angela November 16, 2013 at 3:20 pm #

Probably wouldn’t spend the money to have a tree this year, but sad to think about not having a real tree so his would be perfect!

  69. Shelley November 16, 2013 at 7:52 pm #

I would be delighted to have such additional holiday cheer!

  70. Miranda T. November 17, 2013 at 12:56 pm #

I am finally not in a relationship with a particularly… *passionate* anti-theist who adamantly refused to have “any of that @#%! in our apartment,” so this year it’s go big or don’t bother. Damn straight I WANT A REAL TREE. I’m gonna make popcorn and berry garland and mull cider and burn little scented candles that smell like “North Pole” and “Leaves” and play classical Christian music where I don’t know what they’re saying but it kind of sounds like Avro Part or somesuch and make dainty, beautiful cookies with the cookie press I found in a free box. Any maybe sleep with an angel, ’cause I’m single now. Happy holidays!

  71. debra poscharscky November 17, 2013 at 2:17 pm #

Have not had my own Christmas tree since 2009, waiting for disability and having been homeless was hard on my son and I. Can’t afford a tree, refuse to buy a fake, would love an Oregon tree, still have my decorations and tree stand. We do though have many beautiful trees that we can see out of our own apartment now!

  72. Tracy Lea November 18, 2013 at 12:13 pm #

This locally naturally grown tree would bedazzle my home. More importantly my 11+ year adorable grinch of a rabbit with cataracts would reside under it (rabbits like shady spaces). He would attack all who tried to get near his tree or his defensive wall of presents. He would chew on this magic tree and produce pine-scented gifts to be found after Christmas morn.

  73. Bjoern November 18, 2013 at 1:04 pm #

Oh Tannenbaum wie gruen sind Deine Blaetter

  74. Diana November 18, 2013 at 1:42 pm #

Wow, it would be REALLY nice to win a free tree.

  75. Mathew Trono November 18, 2013 at 4:02 pm #

Winning a tree might make me actually have to celebrate Christmas this year.

  76. Patricia November 18, 2013 at 6:26 pm #

This is our first Christmas in the PNW and it wouldn’t be perfect without a real tree! Even our 2 year old says “eeewwwww” when she sees the fake trees in the store!

  77. erica November 19, 2013 at 10:54 am #

    Oh, tannenbaum. ♡

  78. Claire November 20, 2013 at 12:10 pm #

I would love to have this awesome prize! :)

  79. Claire November 20, 2013 at 12:12 pm #

    That's a tree!
    [a sideways tree]

  80. Danielle November 20, 2013 at 12:28 pm #

Because trees are older than rocks.

    Trees. Are. Awesome.

I don’t know if I’d even decorate it, because I love trees so much I think putting things on it makes it look silly.

  81. Michael Hodge November 21, 2013 at 8:48 am #

With my daughter graduated from college and living in Nashville the smell of a tree would be wonderful. Also to have a trimming party with those friends who are alone would complete the joy of the season.

  82. Brandon November 21, 2013 at 10:18 am #

This may be the last Christmas my roommates and I live together in an actual house big enough for a tree. Money is tight, so a free one would be perfect!

  83. Bub November 21, 2013 at 10:20 am #

Because I want to bring the outdoors indoors, and the pine tree car air freshened didn’t cut it last year.

  84. Scott November 21, 2013 at 11:16 am #

Me and my Jewish girlfriend need a tree to bring the beauty of nature inside!

  85. Renata November 21, 2013 at 11:31 am #

I promise to recycle the tree after New Years and not leave it on the side of the road/freeway

  86. Sonja Jones November 21, 2013 at 12:23 pm #

This will be my first Christmas in the PNW after moving here from the South. I would LOVE to celebrate in my new home with a beautiful, local pacific north west christmas tree!

  87. GaYlEeN November 21, 2013 at 1:18 pm #

Fresh?! Yes! Nothing is better than the real thing.

  88. Jessica Grise November 21, 2013 at 2:44 pm #

My mixed families always had fake trees, so I have always had a real tree once I was out on my own! My kitties also LOVE the pagan holiday tree with our Rastafarian Santa tree topper. Mr. Balls (the boy cat) just basks in the fir smell and gets so excited when I begin decorating it. A freebie would be nice for a change, but either way I am getting one!

  89. Bonnie November 21, 2013 at 2:46 pm #

I haven’t had a real Christmas tree in years! I’m celebrating my 1st Christmas being single again and could use the cheeriness of a real tree. Also, Snowcap rocks! I really appreciate all they do for their clients and also all the fresh produce they manage to get donated and distribute and teaching people to garden in the city.

  90. Lisa Richardson November 21, 2013 at 3:04 pm #

This is the first year in my whole life (I’m 53), that I will have a tree all my own, by myself, and will get to decorate it entirely myself! I can’t wait!

  91. Lori C November 21, 2013 at 3:08 pm #

After I chose a tree WAY TOO BIG to get through our doorway 18 years ago, which caused quite the dilemma with my hubby. Let’s just say a chainsaw was necessary, along with some repairs to the door jamb. After that, he got a fake tree and I’m tired of missing that beautiful scent of a real tree. I’d love to win a tree that also supports charity and get it set up and trimmed before he can pull that horrible plastic thing from the attic.

  92. Mari Stephenson November 21, 2013 at 3:33 pm #

I would love to win a tree to gift to a young family that cannot afford one.

  93. Kimberly November 21, 2013 at 3:50 pm #

With my kiddos being three and 21 months this year at Christmas, I believe it will be more memorable and exciting for them – and for mommy and daddy. A real tree would even make it more special as we celebrate the precious birth of our Savior! Merry Christmas, all! We would so love to smell the beautiful seasonal aroma that delights our hearts and excites the soul for this huge celebration!

  94. Delia November 21, 2013 at 3:51 pm #

I would love to win this tree so that I can surprise my mom with a nice, beautiful tree when she gets home from work!

  95. Ashley Trombatore November 21, 2013 at 4:01 pm #

I would really love to win a tree this year and especially have it delivered as I am having surgery next week and it will be really difficult for me to go out and get a tree so I would be very greatful :-)

  96. Nick November 21, 2013 at 4:24 pm #

I’d love a great tree this year.

  97. Kimmy November 21, 2013 at 4:38 pm #

Nothing compares to the scent of a real coniferous pine tree and I would love to be able to give my poor parents one!!!!

  98. alyssa November 21, 2013 at 5:15 pm #

I actually am kind of against cutting down shit loads of trees just to decorate their corpse with tacky decorations made by underpaid sweatshop workers abroad. However, i have a couple of friends who can’t afford to get their own but love christmas. I’d like to win for them.

  99. James November 21, 2013 at 5:20 pm #

Because the smell of a live tree is Christmas.

  100. stacy November 21, 2013 at 5:53 pm #

I am tired of tying my Christmas tree to my little honda car and driving down the freeway all the while crazy anxious that the tree is going to break loose and hit another car causing a major accident and putting me on the news as “that girl” who messed up traffic all because I was trying to transport a tree back to my house. It would start the holiday season off right to have a sweet tree delivered right to me!

  101. Cindy November 21, 2013 at 6:03 pm #

I really wanted to win this tree since I just became unemployed but there are more deserving stories. I vote to give it to “Sheila”!!! Happy Holidays!!

  102. Jesse Vazquez November 21, 2013 at 8:41 pm #

Fresh cut trees are the best! Last Christmas we were traveling so we didn’t even bother putting a tree up :'(

Because it’s not Christmas without a Christmas tree!

We had a baby 10/22! and are super excited for her first Christmas and delirious without sleep as if sugar plums were constantly dancing on top of our heads to keep us awake

I’d like to win a tree because I just moved here from Southern California after my fiance got out of the marine corps (freshly back from deployment in Afghanistan, which was his second deployment.) We moved here with no money or a job. My fiancé and I just got on our feet and got our first place together!! which is really exciting for us! So we would love to have a tree to complete our apartment this Christmas, which is something we really dont have have the money for.

It’s not Christmas without a beautiful tree! And better yet, from a local co-op. That’s why I love Portland, for the local free range organic locally raised trees!

Last year, my brother sold his house and spent all his money to bring me back to America. It was my first real Christmas in 5 years. We did it the first week of January because we did not have any money for a tree, and we got one for free after Christmas. This year we are still struggling while I am at school here. I really wish to have a tree on Christmas day and make my brother happy. Thank you.

We’d like to win a (delivered!) tree so that our daughter will have a fantastic tree for her first Christmas; our 2-year old son will have something awesome to decorate; and we won’t have to figure out how to go out and pick up a tree using our small car.

I would love a local tree…and the family would love a big seven-footer to decorate!

Sheared Christmas trees to put myself through college in the 70’s four summers, it would help so much to have one delivered…love the smell filling the house.

Hope I’m not too late to enter! This is such a great a idea – I was just learning about this the other day at a party. Would be so wonderful to try out this service and see if it is something that can be incorporated in our family tradition in years to come!

Because you should have seen my tree after I struggled it in my house last year >_<

In the past we haven’t gotten a tree for various reasons. This year we were planning to get one, but then I found out I’m getting laid off right after Thanksgiving. Looks like another year without a tree.

What your doing is awesome. Giving away a tree for the holidays just reminds me what the holidays are all about. I would like to put our family into the drawing for the free tree. My husband and I have been fighting for full custody of his children for 2 Years. It’s been a long emotional road but last week the court granted our Christmas wish and is sending our girls home! This is our first Christmas together but unfortunatly I was injured and have had to take time off work making us short on bills. A Christmas tree would just make it a perfect Christma please consider us but we know that whoever this tree goes to will bring a wonderful smile to some worthy family. Merry Christmas from the Reed family!

I would love to win a tree because I am having a fabulous christmas party, but drive a tiny VW. How am I going to get a tree??

  121. Rebecca Feucht November 27, 2013 at 9:25 pm #

When we moved down from AK in August we had to get rid of our rather nice (as far as artificial goes) tree and a bunch of other Xmas decor as the cost of shipping is ASTRONOMICAL. We have a nice extra room with no furniture that’s begging for a beautiful fresh tree to fill the void. My parents always had a fresh tree and that scent memory is one of my all time favorite things about Xmas, especially growing up where it was so cold and dark and you can’t get out and enjoy the outdoors as much.

Because if I have to go on the Christmas tree circuit looking for the perfect tree for an entire day again I will rage quit.

I have read through a bit of the replies and I know there are so many people who deserve it, yet I know I would feel so blessed to win this Christmas tree. To give you an idea of why this would be the best thing that could happen for me and my family this holiday season I suppose I should introduce myself. My name is Kara, I am 21 and the eldest of three girls. I am always positive and love to make my friends and family smile. I have been set up pretty well (working full time and saving up for school by staying at home with mom)and somehow I managed to loose my full time job right before the holidays, I no longer have money for presents under the tree. I am working at my old part time job now but still have bills to pay. My mom is my world, and I would love to be able to give her something amazing for Christmas. She has raised my two sisters and I to be such strong, smart and caring young women. I plan to start a non-profit organization one day and she is my inspiration. This holiday season, for the first time in almost three years we are all living at home and I know she is happy to have us here and to help us continue to grow, but I see her struggling to pay for everything. Supplying a roof over our heads, food to eat, and somehow budgeting in my youngest sisters theater costs, giving me rides to work and even helping our extended family members in need. She is PTSA president at the local high school, working over time, and honestly there is no way to list all of the things she is doing for our family and community. What I can say though, is that she is my hero, and if there was someway I could show her how much all of her hard work means something and how much I care; this Christmas tree would really mean the most. This would be for her, for my sisters, and to really have the spirit of Christmas alive for our family this year. Thank you for your generosity and for your consideration.
