The Soulful Giving Foundation will host their fourth annual Artful Giving Blanket Concert on Saturday, July 27th on the beautiful grounds of Junki and Linda Yoshida’s private estate along the Sandy River in Troutdale, with KPTV-12 News and Weather Reporter Andy Carson presiding as Master of Ceremonies.

Ticket holders are invited to enjoy 28 arts & craft booths, silent auction activities, delicious food from the finest restaurants in Portland, and an incredible musical line-up featuring: Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk, Mingo Fishtrap, the Monophonics, and Linda Hornbuckle & Friends, Lisa Mann, Andy Stokes, DK Stewart and Peter Dammann.

Participating restaurants at this year’s event will include: El Gaucho, Morton’s, Paragon, Jamison, Davis Street Tavern, Tree’s Catering, NEPO 32, Salty’s, Urban Fondue, Brix Tavern, Quartet, Bumper’s Grill & Bar, La Bamba and The Riverview. As an additional treat, Man-with-a-pan chef Mark Staggs will be showcasing his talent by creating blazing calamari, and Duck Pond Cellars, Widmer Brewing, K&F Coffee, Crater Lake soda and Sake One will have drinks and assorted beverages available to enjoy.

Pre-sale general admission tickets are now available on line at www.soulfulgiving.org for $25; $35 at the door. Premium tickets (including food & beverage tokens) are $50 and $100 for VIP. Parking is provided at Mt. Hood Community College. Ticketholders can also conveniently ride the Cascadia Cruiser “SOUL BUS” from Portland directly to the Troutdale venue for only $1 and will enjoy complimentary Widmer beer and live music along the way. See soulfulgiving.org for schedule, maps and event details.

With cancer being the leading cause of death by disease among children in the U.S., this year’s event will benefit the pediatric cancer unit at Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel as well as the Providence Cancer Research Center. To honor the dedication of medical teams in this field, Governor Kitzhaber has issued an official proclamation designating July 27th as Children’s Cancer Awareness Day.

Although cure rates are increasing, close to 35 percent of children diagnosed with cancer will not survive and there has been an increase in cancer over the past 20 years. Doctors and scientists studying and identifying the causes and cures of childhood cancers need the public’s assistance to support advances in treatment. With this in mind, the Soulful Giving Foundation encourages you to come spread your blanket under the trees and help make a difference in the lives of children and those we love. “Come for the Concert, Stay for the Cause.”

I started the Blanket of Love years ago, where anyone can knit a blanket and I take them to hospitals for the kids. Blanket of Giving is wonderful. Listening to and grooving to live music recharges me. To attend would be a ‘soulful’ event.

I would like to attend this event because its supporting the hospital my son was treated in from April 2012 to July 2012 for, Atypical Teratoid / Rhabdoid Tumor (ATRT). He was sent home in July on Hospice care, His cancerous brain tumor took his short life at 22 months old on January 19th 2013. He went through brain surgery but they could only remove 90% of it, The other 10% remained in his brain stem. It later grew back completely even his rounds of chemo did not help. I would love to be apart of this event.
