Alright, you had me at barbeque. I grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, home to some of the most mouth-watering bbq you’ll ever taste. So far, no one has even come close in the Northwest. Cider? Oh yeah! Bring it on. I’m all for trying out new bbq and refreshing adult cider beverages. Let’s do this!

  16. carolyn March 26, 2013 at 2:27 pm #

I’d love to go – I’ve never been to anything like this – always wanted to, have a friend to go with me – if this is a place that someone with a walker could attend – we’d have a hoot!

  32. Sarah March 26, 2013 at 9:12 pm #

Through much trial & error, I’ve found cider is pretty much the only alcoholic beverage I truly *enjoy*. Unfortunately, there isn’t as much selection in bars or stores for my picky palate :(
I would absolutely love to be able to discover new types & talk with other people that enjoy it, because not many people try out “hard” cidars & I’m pretty stoaked to see a Cidar Fest, I’ve never been to anything like it & would be thrilled to win tickets ^_^

  33. Amy March 27, 2013 at 12:45 am #

We are moving to a new facility just a couple blocks from the Rose Quarter and we’ll have a public taproom. The weather looks to be absolutely fantastic so come try our ciders and get the details about our Kickstarter campaign too:

  95. Gray Ayer March 28, 2013 at 5:55 pm #

hooray for the cider revival! I learned recently that prior to prohibition there were more cider houses then breweries in America, but since it’s a lot easier to clandestinely produce beer (in a basement) than produce cider (that requires a visible orchard) alcohol producers switched to beer and chopped down the trees :(

  96. james March 28, 2013 at 5:58 pm #

    Mmmmmmm cider…

    When the moon shines
    On the cow shed
And we’re rollin’ in the hay
All the cows are out there grazing
And the milk is on its way.

    I am a cider drinker
I drinks it all of the day
    I am a cider drinker
It soothes all me troubles away
    Oh arr oh arr aay
    Oh arr oh arr aay.

It’s so cosy in the kitchen
    With the smell of rabbit’stew
When the breeze blows ‘cross the farmyard
You can smell the cow sheds too.
(Oh, I’ve never smelt nothing like it in all my life!)

When those combine wheels stops turning
And a hard day’s work is done
There’s a pub around the corner
It’s the place we have our fun.
(Arr, we’ll have some fun ‘n’ all.)

    I am a cider drinker
I drinks it all of the day
    I am a cider drinker
It soothes all me troubles away
    Oh arr oh arr aay
    Oh arr oh arr aay.
(Come on, get a couple of pints down ‘ere then!)

    Now dear old Mabel
    When she’s able
We takes a stroll down Lover’s Lane
And we’ll sink a pint of Scrumpy
Then we’ll play old nature’s game.
    (Ha ha ha!
    Oo arr!)
But we end up in the duck pond
When the pub is sized to close
With me breeches full o’ tadpoles
And the newts between me toes.

    I am a cider drinker
I drinks it all of the day
    I am a cider drinker
It soothes all me troubles away
    Oh arr oh arr aay
    Oh arr oh arr aay.
(Come on everyone, get up ‘ere then!
    Ha ha!)

    I am a cider drinker
I drinks it all of the day
    I am a cider drinker
It soothes all me troubles away
    Oh arr oh arr aay
    Oh arr oh arr aay
    Oh arr oh arr aay
    Oh arr oh arr aay.

Let cider be the spice of life!

  107. laura March 28, 2013 at 11:16 pm #

I’m going to tell you a story:

Once upon a time in a land not far away a couple tried to make cider in their kitchen. They believed it would be easy, but soon found themselves cutting apples until 2 a.m. and getting tender spots from the knife, finding 5 worms, and pressing everything through a home juicer. Several hours later they had a mushed up mash of juice and started their fermenting. “We are done! They said! After some waiting soon we will drink.”

After a bit of a fermentation, several bouts with a sticky kitchen, many runs to the brewery supply store and some frustration they waited. Bottled, and waited again. After a long period they opened the first bottle, and instead of cider they found they gained a deep graditude for those cider makers who knew what they were doing, and cider that doesn’t taste like their yeasty mess.

  108. Courtney March 29, 2013 at 12:12 am #

Cider has been a new adventure, and I’m totally hooked! Would love to go to this!
