On this, the first night of of the band’s annual Presidents’ Day Weekend shows, the band will be playing their eponymous debut album in full and in order, plus a tall stack of other stuff!

The Presidents of the United States of America’s music, as if it were sending out millions of microwave rays, turns ice into puddles of water at the world’s feet. –

The Presidents of the United States of America scratch that itch that you can’t reach. They do and say all those things that you’d like to, but fear what people might think of you. They are your inner-child, but stinking drunk on a half-case of cheap beer. And, with the youthful appeal of the Dead Milkmen, the off-kilter storytelling and slashing chops of the Violent Femmes, and a razor-sharp sense of irony, they are utterly undeniable. – Adem Tepedelen

This isn’t your expected so-called “novelty” band. PUSA are the real deal, and they expect you to take them seriously. Well, as seriously as you can, you mixed-up sonofabitch. –

I have loved this band since the beginning of time, but never seen them. Lump is the best song ever ~ i always blast it & peaches and kitty can put a smile on the face of the most depressed person i know. This band rocks.

Please, please, oh please give me tickets!!! :-)

I want to win because rok! is the best Valentine’s Day gift a guy could ask for.

  3. Jason February 13, 2013 at 11:50 am #

Why would I like to attend? My GOD, the PRESIDENTS. Because I’m still searching for that man that puts the peaches in the can. Maybe they could help me out?

  4. James Martin February 13, 2013 at 11:52 am #

I have a Kitty named Lump and a girlfriend nicknamed Peaches….Coincidence?

This brings me back. I have been a fan for years! I would absolutely love to go see them. I just got my cast off my right leg. I could actually go without using crutches!!

  5. Christine February 13, 2013 at 11:53 am #

No way!!! I love PUSA, and remember listening to them while studying for exams. PEACHES!!!

  6. Jason Sartain February 13, 2013 at 11:53 am #

I absolutely loved their debut album and knew every word back in the day. I never got a chance to see them live, for some reason, and would LOVE to be able to attend!!

  7. Megan February 13, 2013 at 11:57 am #

I want pretty noises to reach my ears on Friday. Make it happen for me!

  8. Tom February 13, 2013 at 12:02 pm #

This band should be commended for taking such a risk in releasing such a playful album amidst the peak of the Seattle grunge era. Such a great and simple sound to this record, and it really left a mark on the alternative music scene! I’d love to see them play this record live in Portland!

  9. Lisa February 13, 2013 at 12:07 pm #

    Scratch my itch…PLEASE!

  10. Hilary A February 13, 2013 at 12:12 pm #

All ages shows are few and far between in our town. I know my 19 year old would love this. He’s as close to a Valentine as I have, so if I win these tickets it would be for him, and to make it twice as nice, I would promise not to go, and let him take the lucky person of his choice.

So consider this as a gift to an amazing kid who is putting himself through college, working and living on his own. Plus, he is basically awesome and cool.

The first connection my fiance and I shared was a conversation about the best song from their debut album…some people said it was a completely random way to start a relationship…I say that it was clearly destiny.

By the way, “Dune Buggy” was the winner. :)

  12. Tamera Curtis February 13, 2013 at 1:27 pm #

Love them! Accidentally went to a rally for Clinton when a guy asked me if I wanted to go see the President(s). I was so disappointed it wasn’t them.
Peaches make me happy!! Please pick me.

  13. Wendy February 13, 2013 at 1:28 pm #

Fun band, great live that is why I wanna win. :)

  14. Darin February 13, 2013 at 1:28 pm #

I would like the tix because I’m old and don’t have too many opportunities to see live music left.

  15. kettles1008 February 13, 2013 at 1:30 pm #

I would love to see the Presidents live! That would be so awesome! And on Presidents Day weekend.

  16. Amanda February 13, 2013 at 1:34 pm #

The Pres debut album was the first CD I owned for the boombox I got for Christmas of ’95 or ’96. I went to Warehouse Music (remember music stores with CDs… I’d spend all day there) and bought this album along with Dishwalla, the Cranberries and Jewel (okay, I was 12). And then I rocked out like Chicky (really feather pluckin’ hard) alone in my room and nobody had to teach me how either!

Years later we finally fingured out why the cat named Lump was lumpy, it was the cancer… which also explained her lethargic behavior. Sad but true and I’ve always want to see this band live because they were so very a part of my formative years.

  17. Rob February 13, 2013 at 1:34 pm #

What would be better than to win tickets to the Presidents on your birthday! I would love to celebrate it at the Crystal with the Presidents. You also gotta love a band that does what they want…..

  18. Erin V February 13, 2013 at 1:40 pm #

Oh, this would be a fantastic show to see live! Their music is so cool and fun and spending time in Portland, for this show, would be terrific!

    • Dana Bannister February 13, 2013 at 2:01 pm #

I would love to see the Presidents! I’ve only gone to 1 show in the past 5 years & have never seen these guys before!!!

  19. naomi Martine February 13, 2013 at 2:07 pm #

i would love to take my 11 (soon to be 12) daughter to see this show. Rocking out to peaches!!! :)

  20. Ashley Stoneburner February 13, 2013 at 3:42 pm #

PUSA has been one of my favorite bands since I was little! One of my first albums I ever bought was Presidents and I still cherish it to this day! I love all of their songs and have a special Pandora station just for their awesome music. I would love to go see them at one of my favorite venues ever!

  21. Megan Zemke February 13, 2013 at 5:17 pm #

My best friend Francee recently lost her job. She loves PUSA! She can’t afford to go. In 2000 we drove across the USA singing this album at the top of our lungs, windows rolled down, volume at 11. I want to reenact this trip with her at Crystal! Please! We both will love you for eternity!!!

  22. colette February 13, 2013 at 7:09 pm #

I would love to take my 5 yr old who is loves the presidents!!! He is big into music already & this would be so much fun for the both of us! My bub has good taste in music :)

  23. Paul Nipp February 13, 2013 at 9:38 pm #

Love their music. Just moved to Portland and don’t have a job yet. It would be nice to take my girl out for a fun night since we’ve been trying to save money and not doing a whole lot.

  24. Lee February 14, 2013 at 11:42 am #

    Peaches, kitty, lump…yes please!

  26. Ashley February 14, 2013 at 12:59 pm #

Why I want to win? I’ve been a fan since I was a kid! My former teacher introduced me to Peaches when I was around 10 – I still remember rocking out after school to it. I’ve never seen them live, but considering they might be the first “real” band I liked, I think it’s high time I changed that!

  27. Grant February 14, 2013 at 2:26 pm #

Talk about topping of a Presidents day weekend…. hot dog! Millions of tickets, tickets for free?

  28. Lily February 14, 2013 at 2:40 pm #

  31. Maria February 14, 2013 at 3:45 pm #

Been a fan for years! Can’t afford the ticket to go see them though. I sure would love to take my sweetie for our anniversary present.

  32. andrew February 14, 2013 at 3:47 pm #

It has been too long since I have seen them but never have I seen the entire eponymous album performed. Every time I have seen PUSA, it is a great time and show!

  33. Kat Weisbecker February 14, 2013 at 4:05 pm #

meow meaow meaow meow meow. meeeaoow. I picked up their cd randomly one day at a thrift store and that was the first song of theirs that got me hooked. I’ve been to very few concerts in my day, but would love to say theirs was on of them.

  34. Aaron February 14, 2013 at 4:28 pm #

Millions of peaches, peaches for me…
F you kitty your gonna spend the night, OUTSIDE!

I love peaches and my wife loves cats. What more do I need to say here. I want to go!

  35. Robb W February 14, 2013 at 4:38 pm #

Chris Ballew has been making great kids music as Caspar Babypants for the last several years and my little kids love to sing along to it. Now I need the grown up stuff for me and my wife!

  38. Amber Struble February 14, 2013 at 5:22 pm #

Love the band and I work with 3 year olds every day. It’d be nice to go to a grown up party. Haha.

  39. Thomas February 14, 2013 at 5:28 pm #

  40. Stan February 14, 2013 at 5:47 pm #

Because there’s a kitty on my foot and I want to touch it.

  41. Scotty February 14, 2013 at 6:06 pm #

This band was the first CD I ever bought with my own money.

  42. Heather February 14, 2013 at 6:33 pm #

When bands that were once young and cool when you were young and cool also look older and maybe slightly less cool, it makes you really start to think about where you stand in life.

I would still love to go through.

  43. Pamela February 14, 2013 at 9:09 pm #

I would loveto win tickets and take my 16 year old son. he still talks about the time I took him to the Crystal about 5 years ago and then again at Edgefield . It would be great to relive that again . we both love Presidents

  44. Judah February 14, 2013 at 10:38 pm #

I don’t want to win; I need to win!

  45. Shaun February 14, 2013 at 10:40 pm #

I need some peaches for me
    Can I have for free?

  46. Cheryl February 14, 2013 at 11:08 pm #

I want to see them play because they made it – even though they said they weren’t going to make it!

  47. Michelle Miller February 15, 2013 at 12:03 am #

I remember making my grandpa take me to the store when I was a kid to buy the PUSA tape. Listening to it on the way home was fun. I fucking love this band.

  48. Liza M February 15, 2013 at 1:01 am #
