LOOPTWORKS, local innovator and maker of upcycled clothing and accessories, is hosting a festive Holiday Sample Sale at their Portland, OR headquarters on December 6th (11am – 9pm) & December 7th (11am – 6pm). In addition to two days of deep discounts on tee-shirts, jackets, backpacks, messenger bags, and electronic sleeves, refreshments and live music will be on hand from 4:30pm to 9pm on December 6th to coincide with this month’s ‘First Thursday’ activities.

Launched in August 2009, LOOPTWORKS is a ground-breaking business that repurposes abandoned materials into meaningful, long-lasting and limited-edition products. By re-using the world’s pre-consumer excess, the U.S.-based company aims to rid the world of waste while inspiring a generation to reduce their impact on the planet. The Portland, Oregon-based start-up is led by apparel industry veterans with extensive experience in the athletic and outdoor industry. The inaugural line included jackets, hoodies, skirts, shirts and graphic t-shirts for both men and women, and has since grown to include accessories such as laptop sleeves and bags.

The company’s mission is to 1) Use only what already exists to create their products and run their company and 2) Educate and inspire a generation to reduce their impact on the planet through upcycling and mindful consumption. For example, traditional apparel manufacturing requires 400 – 715 gallons of water to produce ONE T-shirt. By upcycling pre-consumer excess materials, rather than using virgin resources, LOOPTWORKS has already conserved over 35 million gallons of water in it’s first 3 years of business. Focusing on creating quality products, conserving water, and reducing carbon emissions, the company aims to motivate and engage customers, students, and an entire industry in how they source, buy, and use everyday products and materials.
