Mortified, the cult comedy sensation that's a smash hit in LA, NYC, D.C., San Francisco, Austin, Chicago & Boston returns to McMenamins Mission Theater for a brand new show. Come see angst-filled Portlanders share their shame this Cinco de Mayo weekend.

Hailed locally by Portland Monthly, The Oregonian, Willamette Week, and nationally by Newsweek, Entertainment Weekly and NPR's This American Life, Mortified stars everyday people sharing their most embarrassing, pathetic and private teenage diary entries, poems, love letters, lyrics and home movies¬Â¦ in front of total strangers.

Witness ¬Å“personal redemption through public humiliation¬Â in a refreshing show that is equal parts comedic, cathartic and voyeuristic. The largest and longest running project of its kind returns featuring a collection of Portland's bravest souls.

As silly as it sounds, I could use a night out. I never go out on Cinco De Mayo and while I LOVE the Mortified project (I’ve been to 2 shows) I can rarely fit in tickets to my budget.

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a Mortified… I’d love to catch it this time around.

may there be at least one hipster who admits he is ashamed of his hipsterism. then again, might be ironic, because he’ll probably see this as a hip event. damn.

Misery loves company. It’s comforting to hear other people’s tales of teenage woe and feel the solidarity.

  10. Sarah April 26, 2012 at 5:56 pm #

have always wanted to see this performance in all of it’s angsty glory!!

  11. Jessica April 26, 2012 at 7:01 pm #

  12. Meg April 26, 2012 at 8:40 pm #

Dear Diary, I will be mortified if anyone ever reads this because it seems so silly to waste a perfectly good wish on tickets when I could use my wish on something more expensive. But it’s, like, really, really important to moi because I need to do something really, really nice for a friend . . . but, my cash crunch is interfering with going out, ya know? I’ll just cross my fingers, channel my inner self-centered teenager and hope for the best! Wish me luck, Diary!

My birthday is May 1st, and I could really use something to do for the upcoming weekend! Going out for dinner with friends, but seeing as how I just lost my job (2 days ago – happy birthday to me!) I don’t have money to do anything else. Worst birthday ever – tickets to this would definitely make it better!

  22. Rebecca April 28, 2012 at 8:39 am #

I would love to take my wife out for a night like this! We always talk about the embarrassingly lame things we did and said at those young ages so I think we would both find this super funny. Plus, we recently moved to Oregon and “see a comedy show” is on our list of things to do within our first year here!

  23. Dian April 28, 2012 at 10:55 am #

Please pick me because I like teen angst :P

  24. Leonard April 28, 2012 at 7:04 pm #

  26. Dorinda May 1, 2012 at 11:55 am #

I have never been to a mortified show but I am intriqued by the concept. I would love to participate. I was mortified A LOT <21 yrs. old. Just signed up for their mailing list and will pull out all my old journals!

  27. Megan May 1, 2012 at 3:26 pm #

Maybe, in retrospect, my own teenage angst won’t seem so bad.

When I was in 6th grade, I miraculously was able to split my pants AND make the ball go in the other team’s basket while in PE. I think this, along with the horror of growing boobs too early and having my crush find out about my crush, would be a lovely payback. Have never been to a live Mortified performance despite nearly having peed my pants laughing at Mortified’s two books.

Yesterday, as my dude friend and I sped to Casa Diablo at around 3pm he was so disgusted by the state of my hair that he climbed in the backseat and tugged on it trying to get the matted-ness to look semi-decent for the babes.

This morning I woke up with 4 dollars in my bra and a quarter stuck my back. Realizing I needed a to plan my friend’s birthday tonight…I usually cruise by Andy and Bax and by her a Lucha Libre mask and then get her wasted. Nothing is better than watching someone puke through that small, shiny threatening, easy blow job access slit in those masks. I can’t wait to take her to the show tonight.

I just went to buy tickets and it says sold out. How mortifying.
