It is not to early to find the perfect Portland holiday gift for your friends and family. Our good friend and respected Portland artist Chris Haberman is offering custom made, 8″ x 8″ portraits painted on recycled wood to PDX Pipeline readers for only $40 ($10 more with a frame) this holiday season. All you need is a photo of yourself, loved one, pet, butcher, famous person, and Chris will paint it!

Chris Haberman is a working writer, painter, muralist, curator and musician, native to Portland, Oregon. All of his artwork is created from recycled objects, found material from the streets and alleyways of his hometown. A discarded cabinet door or table top quickly becomes the backdrop for an integrated puzzle-poem of figures and text, focusing on subjects like people, politics, the region, pop-culture, media, music, film and literature.

Portland Mayor Sam Adams said in 2009 that ¬Å“Chris is the hardest working artist in Portland.¬Â In Jan, 2010, Chris was a feature artist for Oregon Art Beat on Oregon Public Broadcasting and was awarded ¬Å“Portland Artist of the Year¬Â for Barfly Magazine.  In Jan, 2011, he and fellow artist Jennifer Mercede won a national artist contest in Las Vegas, competing with artists' from10 other cities.

In the Fall of 2011, he completed a 219 wood panel album reproduction for an office mural for record label Kill Rock Stars, produced a 100 work show of ¬Å“The Peoples History of Oregon¬Â at Littman and White Gallery at Portland State University and began planning a 80 foot mural about ¬Å“The History of Hawthorne Blvd.¬Â for 50th SE Hawthorne on the Eagles Fraternal Lodge.

Chris is only making 200 of these custom portraits so be sure and place your order early. You can do this by visiting our purchase links here:

I own several pieces of Chris Haberman’s art and can attest that he is talented! This is a fantastic deal! Get one (or several) before they sell out!

It isn’t very often that you have the chance to pay such a nominal fee to commission a portrait from a talented artist.

What adds to Chris’ amazing talent for painting is the way in which he has devoured, digested, and regurgitated the English language. He’s real, raw, compassionate, provocative, eloquent, obnoxious, brilliant, harsh, and kind.

What a kick ass gift for yourself, or for someone you love.

“…You can do this by visiting our purchase area here.”

Help!? What does that mean? Where is this purchase area? Sorry if I’m missing something obvious – but I’m not seeing it.

Hate to be difficult, but can I order one larger portrait of myself, my husband and my daughter?

  5. Amy November 7, 2011 at 11:17 am #

Can I commision a larger couples portrait?

  6. Stephanie November 10, 2011 at 4:51 pm #

Agreed with the above… can it be two people or is that a wholly separate cost/not included in this deal? I’d absolutely LOVE to get a couple’s portrait.

Also, I have no record of a purchase from you/this email, so maybe it didn’t go through and that is why you don’t have the info.
