Pink Martini & Storm Large Joining Occupy Portland For “This Land Is Our Land” Rally | Pioneer Courthouse Square

Looks like Occupy Portland is getting a little PDX star power this coming week with Congressman Earl Blumenauer, Pink Martini, Storm Large, and others holding a “This Land is Our Land” rally in Pioneer Square.

You can see a video of Storm Large singing a pro-Sam Adams themed version of “Stand By your Man” here from a rally in 2009.

We in Pink Martini have been looking with great interest at the Occupy Portland / Wall Street movement going on in the states, and have decided that in solidarity with Occupy Wall Street and Occupy Portland to put together a This Land is Our Land rally on Friday, October 28 at noon at Pioneer Courthouse Square. This will be an hour-long rally at the Square. Pink Martini + Storm Large will lead the crowd in a sing-a-long of songs such as “This Land Is Your Land” and “American The Beautiful.”

There will also be a series of speakers representing a diversity of interests interspersed throughout the hour. Speakers include Kathleen Saadat (former affirmative action director for Governor Goldschmidt), Thomas Chamberlain (President of Oregon’s AFL-CIO), Congressman Earl Blumenauer, Reverend Lynne Lopez (Ainsworth United Church of Christ) and many more.

Complete info below. Please tell your friends and help spread the word. All ages, all non-violent and respectful people are welcome!
