Oregon's premier vegetarian event is scheduled to kickoff its 7th annual celebration of food, fun and community September 17th in the Oregon Convention Center. This 2¬Âday event will feature presentations from prominent speakers in the fields of medicine, nutrition, animal welfare and the environment and will include cooking demonstrations, hundreds of food samples, movie screenings, classes, family activities and more.

Our keynote speaker for the event will be Dr. Neal Barnard, founder and president of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) and president of The Cancer Project, a nonprofit organization advancing cancer prevention and survival through nutrition education and research.

    my son and myself are vegan. Getting to teach my young son about the wonderful reason we choose to not eat animal ingredients is such a joy. That and it was my birthday this last monday, and it was horrible. Getting tickets to this would just make up for having such a bad birthday!

    VegFest is a GREAT place to be this weekend. I usually go to this event hungry so I can eat lots of yummy stuff there. They have SOOO many great samples to enjoy as well as an indoor “food court” area.

    I would like to go because I’ve been a vegetarian for 40 years. I went to this festival years ago at Lincoln High School. Glad to see it has grown so much. I wish everyone was a vegetarian so as to reduce the suffering of animals. Pick me!

    I am a chef and I was a vegetarian years ago when there weren’t many choices out there at the time! I was taken to the vegfest a year ago and I had a ball learning a lot more about vegans, vegetarians etc.
