The 2011 Bastille Day Block Party at North Portland’s Pix Patisserie is this Saturday! Last year, Pix began moving back their Bastille Celebration one week and now it does not coincide with the Mississippi Street Fair and the Pearl Bastille Day celebration. Win-win for Portland – another week with a top-notch Saturday street party.

A benefit for OREGON FOOD BANK!
Pix Patisserie | North Portland | www.pixpatisserie.com
N. Failing St (b/w N. Williams Ave. & N. Vancouver Ave.)
Please Bring 2 or more non-perishable food items!
To celebrate the storming of the Bastille prison in 1789 which spurred the French Revolution (and to have a little fun at the same time) Pix is holding a day/night long block party in front of its North Williams location. Come for live music, a wine drinking 5K, Champagne sabering demo, grape stomping and more.
In addition to the fun and games we are supporting the Oregon Food Bank. This is a FREE community event but in exchange we ask that each attendee bring 2 or more non perishable food items.
For each item donated guests will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win one of 100 gift certificates to local Portland businesses. The more items you bring the more chances you have to win and the more mouths we can feed.
Just in case you get hungry or thirsty at the party, don’t worry! In addition to our daily offerings of tasty French pastries, partake in the Champagne & Oyster Bar, Lompoc beer garden and other tasty treats!
Without further adieu, I introduce to you the 2010 Pix Bastille Day Celebration Block Party! (throw confetti now)

Mini Médoc Marathon Fun Run
The Médoc Marathon is a 26.2 mile race that winds through over 50 chateaux in the famous wine region of Bordeaux. You may drink water if you like, but there are also 22 ¬Å“degustation¬Â sites where you are encouraged to partake in local wine tastings of Grand Cru vineyards. Pix is holding a Mini Médoc Marathon! During this 5K course through N/NE Portland runners will have the opportunity to sample some delicious wines. Unlike the Médoc Marathon, we are unable to give the winner their weight in wine at the finish. However, prizes will be marked on the bottom of random glasses at the tasting sights. And like the Médoc marathon dressing in costume is a must! Best costume wins $100 Pix Gift Certificate.
