Hotel Deluxe Roof
SW 15th and Yamhill

Join us for balmy evenings and beguiling views atop the parking rooftop at the Hotel deLuxe, SW 15th at Yamhill. Festivities begin at 8 p.m. with music and refreshments. Gracie's Restaurant will offer easy-to-juggle meals, snacks, and cocktails, and additional beverages will be available from TAZO Tea, MacTarnahan's Brewing, and Viso.

The screenings start when the sun goes down, around 9 p.m. Bring your own portable chair, pillow, or blanket, but please no pets or outside food or drink.

Portland's Filmusik presents a new, original soundtrack conducted live by composer Scott Ordway with orchestra and live voice dubbing. In this wonderfully absurd sci-fi taledefinitely not made by rocket scientistsscientist Dirk Green catches a couple of escaped convicts hiding out in his backyard rocket ship and forces them to help pilot his ad-hoc flight to the moon.

As plot thickening would have it, another scientist and his fiancée happen to climb on board at launch time too. After Green dies in a freak accident caused by a meteor shower, the makeshift crew finds there is cheesy life on the moon after all: oddly ambulatory rock-monsters, the sinister female ruler Ledo and her scantily clad moon-babes, and awesome giant spiders that look like they may have been made by inspired, but only moderately gifted, third graders. (78 mins.)

Sponsored by Artists Repertory Theatre, whose 2011/12 season opens September 6 with ¬Å“God of Carnage.¬Â

I should win because I am new to Portland, arrived on the 1 from Canada. Came down so my wife could have her dream of going to art school. Arrived to find that the job I came down to do had fallen apart. I could dig a filmmusic show.

Our daughter took us to see Planet of the Dinosaurs at the Hollywood Theatre for our birthdays. It was the best time we had had in a long time. On Thursday the 21st is our 38th aniversary. We have choosen to go seen this event on the roof top and want to bring our adult kids with. I think everyone should be introduced to this wonderful great idea of movie watching. We would love to win the tickets for this special event.
