J-Live first appeared on the underground hip-hop scene in 1995 with his first single ¬Å“Longevity,¬Â which appeared on Mark Farina's Mushroom Jazz CD, and his follow-up singles ¬Å“Braggin' Writes¬Â and ¬Å“Hush the Crowd.¬Â With the success of these three signles, J-Live was profiled in the ¬Å“Unsigned Hype¬Â section of The Source, which immediately led to a record contract with Raw Shack Records.
Since then J-Live has released two more albums, appeared on countless albums, recorded and released a number of mixtapes and has been busy working on projects with DJ Jazzy Jeff, Handsome Boy Modeling School, Quantic Soul Orchestra, Soulive, Rob Swift and former members from Jurassic 5.
Raashan Ahmad has been on the grind since his first release as one of the lead MCs in the group Mission, who released the self titled album in 1999 (which quickly became a underground fan favorite) and more recently, as the front man for the live hip-hop group Crown City Rockers, who released the albums Earthtones and The Day After Forever which garnered both critical acclaim from press worldwide as well as becoming a strong favorite among music lovers looking for musicality and substance in lyrical content. He has toured extensively through cities, states and continents, performing in front of thousands, rocking festivals and dive bars alike while remaining intimate and sweaty with every performance.
TxE is a super group of sorts made up of emcee's TOPE (Living Proof) & EPP (Thrilla) and producer Calvin Valentine (Strong Arm Steady, Planet Asia etc.). Having only being together for a little more than a year, TxE have wasted no time. They've already released their first EP, collaborated with industry heavyweights, been picked to perform at MFNW and have toured regularly – all while still building a strong following in their home of Portland, OR.
