The Rose City continues to “keep it weird” this weekend with the Portland Urban Iditarod, Brides of March and of course, the Shamrock Run. Registration for this year’s Portland Shamrock Race is full, but you can still watch and enjoy the good times and definitely see the beer, donuts, and bacon station from the Portland Cacophony Society. You can also bring some to share (info below).

The 33rd Annual Shamrock Run has a race for every fitness level. This year’s races include 5k, 8k and 15k Races, a 5k Fitness Walk and a 1k Kids Run/Walk. A portion of the net proceeds from this year’s Shamrock Run will benefit Doernbecher Children’s Hospital Foundation.
Food and beverages, as well as Shamrock merchandise, will be available for purchase and live music will accompany the races. In past years people have run the course in green afro wigs, dressed as fairies and even, once, a giant honeybee.
There is a Portland Cacophony Rest Station just before the end of the run. They get up early (actually, many are still up from the previous day), don bathrobes or whatever costume they still have on, and pass out beer to the runners. And bacon. And doughnuts. They always need more beer, bacon and doughnuts, so if you are sharing in the fun bring some.
