Coalition Brewery Opens Today: SE Portland

SE Portland has a new brewery as of today- Coalition Brewing. It's in the old Noble Rot space right next to Crema on SE Ankeny and they are doing some interesting things with beer recipes…as in you can submit your own and they might brew it. Unfortunately, we will have to wait until July for patio action, but there should be a nice tournout this evening.

Coalition Brewing opens on Wednesday

Coalition Brewing, a new brewery and pub, will open on Wednesday June 23.  As the newest addition to Portland's craft beer community, they will be open to the public with three of their house beers on tap as well as a hand picked wine list and an extensive food menu.  They will debut with King Kitty Red, Bump's Bitter ESB and Mr. Pig's Pale.  These will be followed by a stout, IPA, cream ale and a maple porter with real Vermont maple syrup.

In addition to the house beers, Coalition will be inviting homebrewers to try out recipes on the pilot system and have their beer on tap.  After some time, the community will vote on the best Coalator and it will become a permanent tap in the pub.

The pub is located at 2724 SE Ankeny, in the heart of the Kerns/Buckman neighborhood.  The space was previously occupied by Noble Rot, but has been renovated to allow for more seating as well as an all season patio that will be up and running in the next month or so.

How does a homebrewer sign up for a run on the pilot system? What are the constraints style-wise? I’ve got a low-gravity dark farmhouse that’s been a hit over here… Let me know-

Thanks for the interest, James! The process of signing up for the Coalator Program is super simple. Just come on down to the pub and grab an application. It’s half serious, half not but gives us an idea of who you are and what you want to do. The possibilities of different styles are endless and a dark farmhouse sounds awesome. Hope to see you soon!
