Don't think we've forgotten your four-legged friends. We've got hundreds of treats for dogs of all shapes and sizes. Check out Sewing Ventures (Booth #308) or Doodlebug Duds (Booth #805) for the perfect waterproof dog coats, collars and leashes, reversible scarves, fleece sweaters, beds, carriers and tug toys. The Market's Main Stage will be serving up a great mix of music all weekend long with the likes of Sandy Saunders Band – on Saturday 5/29 and Thistle & Rose- on Sunday 5/30.

About Portland Saturday Market

Portland Saturday Market is the largest arts and crafts market in continuous operation in the United States. It is held every Saturday and Sunday from March through Christmas Eve at SW Ankeny + Naito Parkway. The Market has over 350 vendors who generate about $8 million in gross sales annually and attract over 1 million visitors to the historic Old Town district of Portland each year.

All items sold at the Portland Saturday Market are required to be handmade by the person selling it, and a product review committee of members juries each new item against a high standard of quality. The Market is accessible by TriMet's MAX line which stops within the Market at the Skidmore Fountain stop. Make a $25 purchase and receive a free TriMet ticket or a two hour parking validation at any Smart Park garage.

The Portland Saturday Market is a non-profit membership organization which provides an environment that encourages the economic and artistic growth of emerging and established artisans. Central to this mission shall be to operate a marketplace. That marketplace, and other market programs, shall honor craftsmanship, design innovation, marketing ethics and authenticity of product. I’d love to win a Saturday Market gift card so I can browse for some art to hang on my walls. I moved into my current apartment two months ago and my walls are still too empty.

    • apolinario May 27, 2010 at 5:03 pm #

I like the Saturday Market. I like to buy food. Unfortunately I can’t afford all of the food at the Saturday Market

    • Lauriel May 27, 2010 at 7:48 pm #

The Saturday Market has always been an important part of my life. I can remember going there when I was a kid with my grandfather and then as a teenager with my friends, and now as an adult (still a kid at heart) to hang out and see what’s new. I love the live music, the food, the creative people and the inspiration I get from the place each time I go. It is such a great part of Portland and is part of what makes this city so vibrant! It would be awesome to win the gift card since my birthday is this week and it would be a great birthday present!

I would like to buy some gifts for my fellow teachers. I just got my teaching license and am broke but I really want to buy a few nice gifts for outstanding teachers that have mentored me along my journey.

    • Maria May 27, 2010 at 10:50 pm #

I’m looking forward to re-discovering Saturday Market with my boys. My youngest loves SM and I know he would love to have an extra 25 bucks to spend on food, art and toys. What a great way to hang with my kids.

I’ve been to the Saturday Market only two or three times because I live down in Eugene. I’d love to win the gift certificate just to have an excuse to come up to Portland for a weekend. I’d probably buy some carnivorous plants from the carnivorous plant guy.

25 bucks at the market would be awesome! I could think of tons of things I could do with that! Some hand made natural soap maybe? Some sweet potato doggy treats for my pooch from Snooks?…or maybe a photograph or piece of art for my house. I could definitely find a way to use it!! I have been twice since they expanded and there are a ton of new booths now!

My daughter is trying to talk me into taking her to Portland this weekend to get away. Not sure if I’m up for the 7 hour drive from Pullman, and don’t have a lot of extra cash laying around. I fell in love with Powell’s when I visited before but have never been to the Saturday Market. $25 would put me over the edge I think :)

  17. janae May 26, 2010 at 11:20 pm #

Cuz losing is for losers. And I’m a winner. Im sure you know this already.

On the serious side, $25 gift cert. ensures that the money will go right back into the community we have grown to love. From foods, arts, local products, etc there is nothing like the Saturday Market, actually the Sunday Market isnt too bad either :p

  48. Mia Edera May 27, 2010 at 6:00 pm #

  50. Erika May 27, 2010 at 6:06 pm #

Father’s Day is coming up, and nothing says I love you more than a *PIMP* belt buckle (joking) or a hand carved wooden sign that reads Lakers (not joking)… I’m also skipping out on my father and going camping with friends. I’m a jerk, and free money to spend on my dad would help this broke part-time teacher be less of one. Thanks! PS) Please don’t hate because my dad is a LAKER fan. I love Channing Frye… oh, yeah, he’s with the Suns! ;)

  51. Judy May 27, 2010 at 6:20 pm #

My kids and I love the Market! Love the food, the cool people, all the stuff from so many different countries, and Eastside Longboards and Antic are two of our favorite vendors!

  54. Mike May 27, 2010 at 6:29 pm #

I’m not sure if this is a random drawing, or an essay contest. I hope it’s a random drawing because I don’t have a sappy story. I like the Saturday Market, but I seem to go infrequently. A $25 gift card would be great.

  55. Candyce May 27, 2010 at 6:29 pm #

I love seeing all the people milling around at the market!!! Would not mind some money to spend there as well…

  56. Chris May 27, 2010 at 6:33 pm #

  62. Stacey Marolf May 27, 2010 at 7:54 pm #

  63. Jason J Barton May 27, 2010 at 8:04 pm #

Wow, $25 bones!!!! I haven’t been since they moved to the waterfront. Just moved into a new house and would love some Local art to put up on the wall. The $25 would put a small dent into some of the stuff we are buying. Portland has the best local artists around. Thank you.

oh yeah! LOVE the Saturday market: local fudge, pottery, elephant ears, yard art, tacos, the bronze statue man, the Jimi Hendrix impersonator, strawberry lemonade, the hemp booth, the one-man-blues-band, great music, I could on and on. I’ll put my $25 to good use to get some fine arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrt!

  69. Raina May 27, 2010 at 10:18 pm #

  70. Dana May 27, 2010 at 10:57 pm #

I need to go to the market to find the lovely lady who sold me some very nice glass earrings. I lost one during a Xmas trip from h*ll and would love a replacement.

  71. Amy May 27, 2010 at 11:10 pm #

  72. Nancy Simon May 27, 2010 at 11:21 pm #

Rain or Shine, You have to experience the richness of every stall, the sounds of the market crowd, the rythym of the featured band, the character of the vendors, the shade of the bridge, and the beauty of the Willamette river. And your reward for this exposure, a bag filled with local conserves, baked goods, and the freshest fruits and vegetables. Finish it off with an amazingly decadent pastry and you have had a full day.

  73. Laura May 27, 2010 at 11:46 pm #

We have a new house and would like to fill it up with some Saturday market stuff!

  74. Benjamin May 28, 2010 at 12:09 am #

Saturday market is always a haven for those things you really want to buy but know you shouldn’t: spinning windless chimes, Guatemalan woven purses for your girl, a couple beers in the garden, some really nasty ganja, a chant cd, that phone car charger that never came with your phone (damn verizon), random paintings that will grow mold in your bathroom, organic soap that is far too expensive and far too worthless, knick knacks that you don’t have the slightest clue about their uses, and elephant ears. Oh god do we need some elephant ears!!!

  75. Kristen May 28, 2010 at 12:18 am #

I love to browse the saturday market to see all the unique items people create. Its great to find one of a kind pieces and to support local and independent businesses!

  76. Jacey May 28, 2010 at 12:49 am #

  82. Windy May 28, 2010 at 8:29 am #

  83. Kimberly May 28, 2010 at 8:37 am #

I’ve been in PDX for about a year now, and I love this city so much, I decided to buy a house and make Portland my home!! So excited to explore the great things this city has to offer, and what better way than with the Saturday Market. I have only been there a couple times, but each time was amazing from the art to the food to the entertainment. I would love to find some unique art pieces to showcase in my new home. Plus, my family will be visiting this summer and you can be sure the market will definitely be on our list of stops!

  91. bryan s May 28, 2010 at 4:56 pm #

What is better then saturday market in the rain, makes you want to cozy up to the elephant ear vendor just to keep warm and maybe pick up a secret recipe for frying those fabulous confections. Could I spend the $25 on food, that would be a day well spent

  92. Serena May 28, 2010 at 9:03 pm #

Been working 9 hour days all week just to pay the rent, things have been really stressful this month… I can’t think of a better mini-vacation than shopping the Market on a weekend with my sweetie and taking some time to be chill.

  93. Bridget May 29, 2010 at 12:05 pm #

how many cities have an open air market that they can claim as part of the tourist highlights! Every vacation to Portland, Saturday Market was a must do stop so I could take unique gifts home. Now I live here and enjoy going down to shop and EAT. What a great tradition for the whole family.
