Quite possibly as relevant today as it was on its debut over 30 years ago, WORD IS OUT: STORIES OF SOME OF OUR LIVES is widely considered the first feature-length documentary on gay and lesbian identity. Offering a vastly different perspective on gay and lesbian identity in America than was common at the time, the film presents 26 diverse gay and lesbian individuals who describe with profundity and humor their struggle to live a decent life in America, in spite of prejudice, discriminatory laws, and society's unwillingness to afford them respect and equality. (135 min.)

I’m specifically interested in seeing WORD IS OUT: STORIES OF SOME OF OUR LIVES since it sounds incredibly compelling. I am always interested in hearing people’s unique stories of struggle and how they overcame it. The struggle of growing up and coming out as gay is one somewhat close to home, i am bisexual, but lived in a really accepting family and community growing up, so it always interesting to hear about how it was different for other people.

Also i would love to see Tab Benoit or Avery Watts. Live music is my life, one of my favorite things to do is seeing musicians perform.

And hey, i love free stuff. :)
