Mortified, the cult comedy sensation that's a smash hit in LA, NYC, D.C., San Francisco, Austin, Chicago & Boston returns to downtown Portland for their Two-Year Anniversary Show!  Also celebrating its tenth original show over the past two years, Mortified Portland returns for another all new, two-night performance November 20th & 21st at Someday Lounge.

Hailed locally by The Oregonian, Portland Monthly, and Willamette Week, and nationally by Newsweek, NBC's The Today Show, Entertainment Weekly and NPR's This American Life, Mortified stars everyday people reading aloud their most embarrassing, pathetic and private teenage diary entries, poems, love letters, lyrics and locker notes… in front of total strangers.  Witness "personal redemption through public humiliation" in a refreshing show that is equal parts comedic, cathartic and voyeuristic.  The largest and longest running project of its kind returns featuring a collection of Portland's bravest souls.

I need to win tickets because I’ve never gotten to go and really wanted to. Please?

  2. Jill November 17, 2009 at 2:58 pm #

I’d love to wallow in other people’s miserable embarrassment for a change.

Oh man! I would love to go to this. Some friends of mine went last year and I missed out, they said it was fantastic!

I would be down to go either day.

I’d like to win tickets because I still take my teen angst very seriously, and write long tortured prose about it, constantly updating my LiveJournal with this introspective monologue. Hopefully Mortified can give me the more comedic perspective I so desperately need.

Also, I could attend either day, but would prefer Friday. Saturdays are for moping.

  5. Sloan November 17, 2009 at 3:00 pm #

I’d love to go on the 20th, because who doesn’t love cringing in a room full of cringing strangers?

  6. Shelby November 17, 2009 at 3:05 pm #

I’d love to go on Saturday night!! I missed this show last time and would really love to go, I’ve heard ‘Mortified’ on the radio and think it would be awesome to see in person..

  7. Amy November 17, 2009 at 3:07 pm #

Want! Free! Tickets! Mortified is awesome.

  8. whitney streed November 17, 2009 at 3:24 pm #

i’d love to win tickets because i do stand-up comedy at open mics all the time, and it would be beautiful to see people on stage trying to be honest instead of trying to be funny for a change. plus someday lounge is great.

friday is the day for me. thanks!

I want to go! Pick me!

  10. Zach November 17, 2009 at 4:17 pm #

I’ve heard all the great stories about this show, I’d love to go on the 21st!

  11. Ashley November 17, 2009 at 4:51 pm #

I frequently, albeit unintentionally, embarrass myself. Yes, I’m “that girl”. I would definitely appreciate being the laugher instead of the laughee, even once. Either day would be great!

  12. christopher November 17, 2009 at 5:03 pm #

I want to go because I was just reading the fanzine I wrote in high school, and I’m finding it hard to believe anything could be more embarrassing than that.

Either day would work, with Saturday preferable.

  13. Melissa November 17, 2009 at 5:35 pm #

I’d love tickets for Saturday. I saw the first Mortified show and would love to go again.

  14. Michelle November 17, 2009 at 5:55 pm #

I went last year and had a blast, laughing so hard I almost peed my pants. I would love to take my boyfriend and hear more hilariously relatable stories! (Friday preferred!)

  15. kristenpdx November 18, 2009 at 9:37 am #

My boyfriend, who’s read some of my teenage poetry, suggested that I might want to do a reading of my own someday at Mortified. I’d like to see what it’s all about and how scary it might (or might not) be to share personal stories in front of a crowd. We’d love to go on Saturday night.

  16. Carina November 19, 2009 at 10:05 am #

I’d love to go because I’m hoping it would make all my angsty teenage prose and poetry less embarrassing. I’d take either day!

True story: I grew up in a small college town where the only coffee shop eventually came to be called Sweet Eugene’s Sexist House of Loud Java and Embarrassing Displays of Self-Expression. Well, at least by me. And in order to hang out at the only coffee house, I endured MANY embarrassing displays of self-expression.

How is it that now, years later, I kinda miss it?

    Free tickets, please!

    • j November 20, 2009 at 9:13 am #

      Saturday, please!

  18. Katrina Joy November 19, 2009 at 2:30 pm #

I’d like to attend Mortified for a night of giggles and by proxy redemption courtesy of PDX Pipeline. Bring it!

  19. Emilia November 19, 2009 at 3:30 pm #

Would really love to go and appreciate all the real-life humor! Nothing makes me feel more connected to my fellow human being than laughing over a shared humilliating experience.

  20. Matthew November 19, 2009 at 8:42 pm #

I have always wished to see this show! i was a very confused kid and think my own journal might make the cut but would t]like to see what others have to offer!! at any rate i would truly love to see this show!!! Saturday night would be perfect.

  21. amanda November 19, 2009 at 10:37 pm #

This sounds so fun! I would love to hear someone else’s mortifying stories and angsty prose as i have plenty of my own! I could go either night.

  22. Steve November 19, 2009 at 11:24 pm #

I NEED to go to this. My girlfriend just broke up with me and send a picture of my most intimate of areas to all of our mutual friends and a sad face emoticon below it. I think it implied that my junk made her sad.

    I need catharsis! Both nights!

  23. mark holan November 20, 2009 at 6:26 am #

The show reminds me of the “F* My Life” Website which causes me great belly laughs as I find humor in others misfortunes. I would love Nov 21 tix please

  24. Amy November 20, 2009 at 7:53 am #

I woke up this morning and saw you guys are offering Mortified tickets and I was thrilled until I realized I am too tired to come up with a witty comment to convince you why I deserve these tickets more than the others who have already made me laugh with their comments. The sad face under the picture of the guy’s junk ….if that’s true, he may need them more than me. However, I would love to go on Saturday!! I am financially challenged and LOVE Mortified shows! Thank you for your consideration.

  25. Dave Hoffman November 20, 2009 at 8:11 am #

A friend of mine from high school is visiting this weekend. This would be the perfect place to reminisce and commiserate over how awkward we were. We’d love to go on the 21st.

  26. Paula Sanders November 20, 2009 at 8:15 am #

I would looooooooove tickets to Mortified. I had a funeral this week for my uncle and could really use a pick=up.
Thank you and I hope you choose me!!!!!!!!!!

  27. MsD November 20, 2009 at 8:17 am #

I’m too mortified to tell of my own teenage angst story, and living vicariously seems to work well for me in this situation.

    Please oh please pick me.

  28. MsD November 20, 2009 at 8:20 am #

Just like in junior high, I’m not good at following instructions. Either day works for me. Cheers!

  29. Dian November 20, 2009 at 8:44 am #

I really wanted to see this show but online, they’re SOLD OUT! So please pick me, either night would work, Saturday is preferrable.

  30. marie November 20, 2009 at 8:56 am #

I’d like to go because I LOVE Mortified and am a major recruiter for getting people to go but was sadly unable to get tickets do to an unusually hectic schedule last week.

  31. kakaaw November 20, 2009 at 9:14 am #

Because teen angst is funny, of course! I’d like to go Saturday.

My sister loves this show! I would love to give her these tickets, because she lost her job, and I’m sure she can’t afford to buy them (even if it wasn’t sold out). Friday would be a great night for a show!

  35. Michelle McDermott November 20, 2009 at 9:52 am #

Pick me!! Finally have a date night with my husband (kid is at a sleep over) and this would be a perfect way to spend the evening together. Sure would make us feel better about our lives :)

  38. Lindsay November 20, 2009 at 10:15 am #

I recently found my journal from middle school – well, to be more accurate, my fiance found it. Talk about mortified! I can’t even think about him reading it to me…I cringe inside. It would be amazing to know for sure that I’m not alone…I would love to go Saturday night!

  39. Emily November 20, 2009 at 10:40 am #

I am a poor med student who needs a laugh. I’ll trade free medical care…

    Saturday would be rad!

    *love and flu shots*

  40. Maureen Ray November 20, 2009 at 11:17 am #

I’d love to go on Nov 21. I am a middle school teacher and teen life is filled with moments of mortification for kids in this age group. I think it could inspire me to do something like this in my classroom.

  41. Mei November 20, 2009 at 11:24 am #

I want to see whats in the show. Who knows you might be giving tickets to next year’s star. Going might even save me a therapy session. Either night works.

  42. Myla November 20, 2009 at 12:09 pm #

I have a friend in town & would love to take her! Either night is AWESOME!
