November 1st is an opportunity to celebrate, pay tribute to, or mourn those you have loved and lost. Dia de los Muertos, or Day of Dead has been celebrated all of over the world for the past 3,000 years.

Someday Lounge is proud to host a third, more ambitious procession and altar build for Dia de los Muertos. The event will begin with altar building and sugar skull decorating at Someday Lounge at 1:30pm. With home-made sugar skulls and frosting, participants are encouraged create remembrances for loved ones or decoration. Together with guest artists we will create community altars throughout the space. A true community art installation rooted in rich cultural traditions.

As we create our altars, participants are invited to solicit the services of our house face painter, don festive attire and meet downtown (4th and Yamhill) at 3pm to commence our procession into Old Town behind the LIONS OF BATUCADA. We'll be escorted by the Portland Hearse Club, and alongside the strange and magnificent SERAPHIC stilt creatures. Banners waving, our party will be led by a marching band fit to rouse the dead. We'll parade down 4th Avenue through the Chinatown Gates and North on Davis Street to Someday Lounge for traditional hot chocolate, movies and fresh tamales.
