"The Greatest Movie Ever Made" | Shogun Assassin | Hollywood Theatre

From Dan at Grind House Film Fest:

Around here, we call this the greatest movie ever made**. On Saturday September 20th only at 7:45 at the Hollywood Theatre, The Grindhouse Film Festival presents the samurai vengeance classic SHOGUN ASSASSIN!  This movie is a huge audience favorite, and is a must see experience on a 50 foot screen.

SHOGUN ASSASSIN (1980) The Lone Wolf and Cub story.  Tomisaburo Wakayama stars as Lone Wolf, “the greatest samurai in the empire”.  When he is betrayed and his wife murdered by the shogun's ninjas, he takes his young son on “the road to hell” and seeks out blood soaked vengeance.  Roaming the countryside, they face off with countless ninjas and assassins, and are ultimately led to a confrontation with the Masters of Death, three of the fiercest killers in the history of cinema.  This movie is action packed and relentlessly violent with blood geyser arterial showers at every turn.  As the tagline states: “Meet the greatest team in the history of mass slaughter!”

Plus, 35mm old school martial arts trailers!  All information is on the website: www.grindhousefilmfest.com

**I don't know if I would call this “the greatest movie ever made”, but it is possibly the greatest Samurai movie and series. Ogami Ito massacres other samurai, army, ninjas, etc by the truckloads (espeically later in the series). The blood flow can be as audacious as a Monty Python flick as well.

It's a fantastic film, and I highly, highly recoomend this on Saturday night! Also, it is in full color unlike the picture above.
