August 9th – Another Pillow Fight in Pioneer Square

In the effort to insure Portland has a constant flow of feathers, there will be another Pillow Fight on Aug 9th:
pillow fight in portland, pioneer square

Next Pillow fight:
When: Thursday, Aug. 9
Time: 6pm

Where: Pioneer Courthouse Square (701 SW 6th Avenue)

show up with a pillow concealed any way you can think of.. like a humpback, pregnant belly, in a backpack, etc… then at the appointed time someone yells “pillow fight” and people go at it, much hilarity ensues, and then when the time is up people just go right back to acting like normal strangers.

no hard things in pillows
no “tarring”
no hitting innocent bystanders/small children (only those with pillows!)
keep pillow HIDDEN prior to 6 pm.

As long as I’m not tear-gassed or shot dead by police, I’ll be there!! ;)

I went, w/ concealed pillow, but most people had pillows out in the open and the police threatened them all with arrest and jail. We pussed out.

People headed elsewhere w/ pillows, but I didn’t follow – just didn’t seem fun to try a plan b. :(

I think it’s hilarious. PLEEEASE franchise public pillow fights WORLDWIDE by 2010!

Who organizes these pillowfights? I’m REALLY wanting to go to one of these pillowfights, and I’m in Portland all summer, we should organize one! There are so many places we could use, open squares, etc. I would be willing to help out, such as creating some artsy flyers to post in geocaches, letterboxes, or art walls…. does ANYBODY know how to get one started in Portland?

I don’t think there is any formal method to making these happen. I believe the point is that they are somewhat “spontaneous”.

Anyway, in the past people post bulletins on Myspace, LiveJournal, etc. There have been quite a few of them now, and I think the last one was a bust.

Good luck and enjoy your summer in Portland.
