Portland’s 2012 Worst Day of the Year bike ride takes place next weekend. It is a “18-mile odyssey around downtown Portland”, and a big party as well. They are trying to break a record with 4,000 riders this year to support the Community Cycling Center. There are prizes, costume contest, the Last Regiment Drum Corps, a finish line meal, and much more. If you are not used to riding such a long distance, don’t worry, there are “3 rest stops with belly-warming treats“.

This Sunday is the 2012 Global No Pants Day Party in Portland. the weather will be much nicer than the freezing temperatures faced at the 2011 No Pants Day, so expect an even larger group this year. This year’s event will also have a donation drive for the Rafael House, a multi-faceted domestic violence agency dedicated to ending intimate partner violence.

Voodoo Doughnut breaks Guinness World Record for biggest box of doughnuts
PDX Bridge Festival’s Brunch on The Bridge | August 6th

The Brunch on the Bridge festival yesterday was quite a success with over 1,400 people attended, nearly 4,000 doughnuts (weighing in at 666 pounds), a giant pink box, and a new Guinness world record.

Just saw this new Portland Mural across the street from the Belmont Library. The librarian told us that it was painted yesterday, but they were not sure who did it. The O is clearly an homage to Portland’s doughnut scene, but what is the T supposed to be/represent?

Parade at Division-Clinton Street Fair

Another Saturday in Portland and another street fair. This Saturday is the Division Clinton Street Fair, and unlike last Saturday’s Montavilla Street Fair, nothing but sunshine and blue skies predicted for the 23rd.. There is a beer graden sponsored by Hopworks, and the parade will start @ 10:45 at 50th and Division and ends at SE 26th and Clinton.

This year, the parade will be lead by Mayor Sam Adams and Storm Large. Our sponsors at Hammy’s have a pizza eating contest. Last year that began at 1PM. We’ll update as we get more info.

Cathedral Park Jazz Festival

There is yet another big festival this weekend in Portland. Is there a cooler setting in Portland to see a jazz festival than in Cathedral Park under the St. John’s Bridge? No way and that is why it has lasted 30 years now! If you can;t make it, the good people at KBOO will play the concert on 90.7FM all day Saturday and stream the whole weekend on their website.
