About Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band
This Seattle quintet never settles for the status quo. Bluesy single-note guitar lines compete with jagged chording, the bass thumps out counter-melodies, strained yelping dissolves into pastoral harmony. Yet it all coheres thanks to frontman Benjamin Verdoes' pop instincts and the band's jittery energy. Hear how Mt. St. Helens explodes expectations.” ~Spin

Seattle indie-rockers Mt. St. Helens Band are a rollicking quartet who formed in 2008, their songs powerful compositions of classic rock and blues. Over the years they've moved away from comparisons to Modest Mouse and Wolf Parade, venturing into musical territory that has earned them continued noteworthy comparisons, this time to Arcade Fire and Pink Floyd Read the rest of this entry »

About Diamond Rings (www.myspace.com/diamondrings)
Scrappy, high-spirited songwriting combines crunchy, '70s guitar-rock with the hazy euphoria of modern acts like Sun Airway and Twin Shadow—a retro-futuristic musical braid that's hard to nail down…O'Regan's is unlike seemingly every other bedroom music maker these days. There's a real power and discernable confidence to his croon." ~Slant Magazine

Toronto's Diamond Rings is John O'Regan, an eye-catching performer whose flashy 80's style is reminiscent in songs that combine a mix of Iggy and Phil Oakley. But don't get us wrong; Diamond Rings is no blast from the past. Part laptop pop and part grunge, with Read the rest of this entry »

About mr. Gnome (www.mr-gnome.blogspot.com)

“Sounds like ethereal Icelandic fairies being pummeled by concrete guitars in a dirty Cleveland parking lot. AKA: awesome.” ~Paste Magazine

Cleveland, Ohio duo Nicole Barille and Sam Meister are mr. Gnome, who take psychedelic rock to a whole new level. They deliver slashing atmospheric guitar, high-ceilinged vocals, and tight pounding drums, creating a unique sound of contrasting jagged and soothing textures, with vocals that range from a whisper to a scream. Heave Your Skeleton (the anticipated follow up to Deliver This Creature) deftly manages to create an eerie and addictive sound.

About Two Ton Boa (www.myspace.com/2tonboa)

"There is something weirdly Wim Wenders about Two Ton Boa. They
have a circus-like atmosphere and a drably sad outlook. Leering, provacative,
smart, brazen as hell with a calliope twinkle. Absolutely good." ~Vice Magazine

Portland trio Two Ton Boa craft melodically dark and hypnotic songs, pop with a goth twist. Singer Sherry Fraser is a classically trained vocalist, and her breadth of range is an emotional punch of emotion, mysterious, funny, and raw. It's the perfect tone for songs that have been called "perfectly suited to the films of Tim Burton," and full of "enthusiastic gloom." Whatever you want to call it, this band is timeless.
