The calm croon of Annie Clark's voice can be a smiling trap to capture you in a cascading lull as her gut-pulling guitar will tear at your ears with the lovely contrasting blows of string-bending and wall-of-sound instrumentation. Seeing her is like a glimpse of a nymph (one who listened to a good bit of Beatles), her small stature a misleading element of her raucously perfect musical wave that combines the sound of destruction and whispers of sonnetesque ballads.
Portland musicians Wax Fingers will bring their aggressive, atmospheric math rock to the Doug Fir Lounge Saturday night with Experimental Dental School, Swim Swam Swun and Mighty Tiger.
