Tribute Gallery presents the Portland debut of Tyler Kohlhoff. A graduate of Whitman College, Kohlhoff now lives in Portland, Oregon and works throughout the Northwest as a photographer and a teaching artist. His shows include solo and group regional exhibitions, and he has worked with children through the Right Brain Initiative and Caldera's Hello Neighbor Project. Kohlhoff's pieces were most recently featured in the High Desert Journal, Volume 10.

"Inland Empires" focuses on the transitional habitats of the Interior West. In a series of two studies, the artist leverages anti-narrative to explore space as found artifacts of the abandoned. Housework explores the interiors of once-called home; Riverside explores the desolate landscapes of Southern California.

The images repeat the theme through installation. Photographs are mounted into light boxes contrived from more found artifacts and fluorescent light fixtures. The backlit photography clusters in space, resembling nodes on a circuit. Wiring pinned to the wall behind the images suggests a chip board's gold leaf patterns.

The attached photo is from the installation of CoCA Ballard of Seattle.
