Hot off the heels of their debut vinyl record release last month, Holocene is proud to announce the third anniversary of the Rockbox Dance Party. Friday November 20th marks the exciting 3 year mark of one of Portland's most consistently fun dance parties.
The Rockbox catch phrase, “Everybody, it's a dance party” is the perfect and most basic descriptor of what they try to accomplish with the night. This party is for everyone. If you have experienced any of the last three years of Rockbox, you have heard everything ranging from Justin to Justice, Boys II Men to Beenie Man, and ODB to Rod Lee. And their new record is a testament to that diversity in sound that keeps you dancing on the speakers, in the bathroom, and while you are ordering that last gin and tonic that you don't really need.
Another key component that has made Rockbox a staple in Portland's nightlife scene is the skill and technique of its selectors. The number one thing Kez, Dundiggy, and Matt Nelkin aim for every third Friday is to provide a flawless and exciting mix that only adds to the listening experience. As the trio proceed to look for the perfect beat, their love for providing a consistent dance party for Portland is contagious. And, even after three years, their enthusiasm is still growing and the bar is still rising. Their ambitions and reputation have expanded every year by staying busy releasing their own record, buying disgusting amounts of other people's records, releasing mixtapes, and researching music daily.
