I was told by MJ/Mirage (rumor has it she will be wearing a pink candy theme outfit) about this event Wednesday. You pay a little cash (goes to models), bring your sketchbook, and draw pictures of cabaret models. Apparently, it is done by "London" of Suicide Girl fame. I wonder how one could possibly get class credit for this….hey AiPD, start working on that

in general, it is a weekly life drawing event (originated by artist molly crabapple) using attractive/creative/interesting live models…generally one female and one male. it's from 7-9pm every wednesday at dantes…1 sw 3rd and burnside in downtown portland. it's a ton of fun…we play vintage burlesue films and cartoons. there's a full bar and kitchen. we play great music and we also give away prizes for our 'contests', like model favorite sketch, best use of color, most abstract, most true to life, etc. the $6 admission ($4 for students with id), allows admission to dante's next event after dr. sketchy's burlesue life drawing, xotica go go. so, people pay for one event and get two! that's all the basic info..website is www.drsketchyportland.com which is a direct link to out myspace group page. i hope this helps.

My lovely fall sickness seems to be nearly gone (the contagion is for sure), so I'm going to do my best to get out there tonight as several of these people are friends of mine (Atom 13, Malice, Chris Haberman, Phil Ragaway, William Slater – “hottest item not on the menu”= ha!). I don't know what that means, but I'm in–and if you aren't seeing the other 20 (exageration, but the weekends are rocking these days) things I've put up to do this weekend–you should be there too before Kanaly buys all the tickets so that it can just be him and Mickey and they can hang backstage and talk about fixed gear bikes (Kanaly's a sweet talker)
