(Portland, Oregon) It is time once again to tear apart those trash bins in hopes of finding the perfect materials to create your submission for the 2nd annual Junk to Funk Recycled Fashion Show Contest. This year's deadline for submissions is October 17th culminating with the “trashion show” on November 17, 2007 at the Wonder ballroom.

Professional artists, fashion and apparel designers along with members of the
general creative public will not want to miss this truly unique opportunity to
compete for prizes up to $500 in the upcoming Junk to Funk Recycled Fashion Show Contest. The pieces of wearable art and fashion that are being sought should be made out of found objects, recycled materials and things you normally might find in the trash.

Information sent over from Bryan @ New Belgium Beer:

We're looking for one dedicated person to hand over their car, title and keys to the Tour de Fat altar at each stop this summer. In exchange for this tremendous gesture, New Belgium will award you with a hand-crafted, fully loaded, Fort Collins-built New Belgium commuter bike.

It's really quite simple. Trade your car for a new bike and commit yourself to sparkle motion, gas-less, human-powered transport. Our goal is to have your vehicular cleansing become an inspiration to the Tour de Fat congregation and beyond. We'll film your individual sacrifice and your car-free trials and triumphs over the following year in hopes of inspiring the masses to commute by bike more.

We would like you to submit a video or letter of 2 minutes/1000 words or less telling us your story and your desire to be car-free. Submit your application to cwinn@newbelgium.com or upload your video to http://staging.newbelgium.com/form.php?action=bike_trade and include "I wanna trade my car for a bike in (enter city name here) in the subject line. Mail videos to:

If chosen, we will contact you and begin planning for show time. You must attend the Tour de Fat nearest you for the closing ceremony where we will bring you on stage and celebrate your outstanding commitment.
